அவர்களைப் பிடித்து, சாயங்காலமாயிருந்தபடியினால், மறுநாள்வரைக்கும் காவலில் வைத்தார்கள்.

இவைகளெல்லாம் நடப்பதற்கு முன்னே என் நாமத்தினிமித்தம், அவர்கள் உங்களைப் பிடித்து, ஜெபஆலயங்களுக்கும் சிறைச்சாலைகளுக்கும் ஒப்புக்கொடுத்து, ராஜாக்கள் முன்பாகவும் அதிபதிகள் முன்பாகவும் உங்களை இழுத்துத் துன்பப்படுத்துவார்கள்.

சவுல் வீடுகள்தோறும் நுழைந்து, புருஷரையும் ஸ்திரீகளையும் இழுத்துக்கொண்டுபோய், காவலில் போடுவித்து, சபையைப் பாழாக்கிக்கொண்டிருந்தான்.

அப்படியே பேதுரு சிறைச்சாலையிலே காக்கப்படிருக்கையில் சபையார் அவனுக்காக தேவனை நோக்கி ஊக்கத்தோடே ஜெபம்பண்ணினார்கள்.

அவர்களை அநேக அடி அடித்தபின்பு, சிறைச்சாலையிலே வைத்து அவர்களைப் பத்திரமாய்க் காக்கும்படி சிறைச்சாலைக்காரனுக்குக் கட்டளையிட்டார்கள்.

அவர்கள் கிறிஸ்துவின் ஊழியக்காரரா? நான் அதிகம்; புத்தியீனமாய்ப் பேசுகிறேன்; நான் அதிகமாய்ப் பிரயாசப்பட்டவன், அதிகமாய் அடிபட்டவன், அதிகமாய்க் காவல்களில் வைக்கப்பட்டவன், அநேகந்தரம் மரண அவதியில் அகப்பட்டவன்.

வேறு சிலர் நிந்தைகளையும் அடிகளையும் கட்டுகளையும் காவலையும் அநுபவித்தார்கள்;

நீ படப்போகிற பாடுகளைக்குறித்து எவ்வளவும் பயப்படாதே; இதோ, நீங்கள் சோதிக்கப்படும்பொருட்டாகப் பிசாசானவன் உங்களில் சிலரைக் காவலில் போடுவான்; பத்துநாள் உபத்திரப்படுவீர்கள். ஆகிலும் நீ மரணபரியந்தம் உண்மையாயிரு, அப்பொழுது ஜீவகிரீடத்தை உனக்குத் தருவேன்.
