உன் நீதியினிமித்தமும் உன் இருதயத்தினுடைய உத்தமத்தினிமித்தமும் நீ அவர்கள் தேசத்தைச் சுதந்தரிக்கும்படி பிரவேசிப்பதில்லை; அந்த ஜாதிகளுடைய ஆகாமியத்தினிமித்தமாகவும், ஆபிரகாம் ஈசாக்கு யாக்கோபு என்னும் உன் பிதாக்களுக்குக் கர்த்தர் ஆணையிட்டுச் சொன்ன வார்த்தையை நிறைவேற்றும்படியாகவும், உன் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் அவர்களை உனக்கு முன்பாகத் துரத்திவிடுகிறார்.

உன் நீதியினாலும், உன் இருதயத்தினுடைய உத்தமத்தினாலும் நீ அவர்களுடைய தேசத்தைச் சொந்தமாக்கிக்கொள்ள நுழைவதில்லை; அந்த மக்களுடைய ஒழுக்கக்கேடுகளின் காரணமாகவும், ஆபிரகாம், ஈசாக்கு, யாக்கோபு என்னும் உன் முற்பிதாக்களுக்குக் கர்த்தர் வாக்களித்துச் சொன்ன வார்த்தையை நிறைவேற்றுவதற்காகவும், உன் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் அவர்களை உனக்கு முன்பாகத் துரத்திவிடுகிறார்.

நீங்கள் நல்லவர்களாயும் நேர்மையாயும் வாழ்ந்ததால் அவர்களது தேசத்தில் சுதந்திரமாக வாழப் போகிறீர்கள் என்பதல்ல. தீயவழிகளில் அவர்கள் வாழ்வதினால் உங்கள் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் அவர்களை வெளியே துரத்தினார். அதனாலேயே நீங்கள் அங்கே போகின்றீர்கள். அதுமட்டுமின்றி, தேவன் உங்கள் முற்பிதாக்களாகிய ஆபிரகாம், ஈசாக்கு, யாக்கோபு ஆகியவர்களுடன் செய்த வாக்கினை நிறைவேற்ற விரும்பினார்.
