பிள்ளைகள் என் ஜனங்களை ஒடுக்குகிறவர்களாயிருக்கிறார்கள்; ஸ்திரீகள் அவர்களை ஆளுகிறார்கள். என் ஜனமே, உன்னை நடத்துகிறவர்கள் உன்னை மோசம்போக்கி நீ நடக்கவேண்டிய வழியை அழித்துப்போடுகிறார்கள்.

வாலிபரை அவர்களுக்கு அதிபதிகளாகத் தருவேன் என்கிறார்; பிள்ளைகள் அவர்களை ஆளுவார்கள்.

பேலியாளின் மக்களாகிய வீணர் அவனோடேகூடி, சாலொமோனின் குமாரனாகிய ரெகொபெயாம் அவர்களை எதிர்க்கக் கூடாமல் வாலவயதும் திடனற்ற மனதுமாயிருக்கையில், அவனுக்கு விரோதமாய்த் தங்களைப் பலப்படுத்திக்கொண்டார்கள்.

சாராயத்தை நாடி அதிகாலமே எழுந்து, மதுபானம் தங்களைச் சூடாக்கும்படி தரித்திருந்து, இருட்டிப்போகுமளவும் குடித்துக்கொண்டேயிருக்கிறவர்களுக்கு ஐயோ!

மனாசே ராஜாவாகிறபோது பன்னிரண்டு வயதாயிருந்து, ஐம்பத்தைந்துவருஷம் எருசலேமில் அரசாண்டான்.

யோவாகாஸ் ராஜாவாகிறபோது இருபத்துமூன்று வயதாயிருந்து, மூன்றுமாதம் எருசலேமில் அரசாண்டான்.

ஆனாலும் இவர்களும் திராட்சரசத்தால் மயங்கி, மதுபானத்தால் வழிதப்பிப்போகிறார்கள்; ஆசாரியனும் தீர்க்கதரிசியும் மதுபானத்தால் மதிமயங்கி திராட்சரசத்தால் விழுங்கப்பட்டு, சாராயத்தினால் வழிதப்பி, தீர்க்கதரிசனத்தில் மோசம்போய் நியாயந்தீர்க்கிறதில் இடறுகிறார்கள்,

தாவீதின் குடும்பத்தாரே, உங்கள் செய்கைகளுடைய பொல்லாப்பினிமித்தம் என் உக்கிரம் அக்கினியைப்போல் புறப்பட்டு, அவிக்கிறவன் இல்லாமல் எரியாதபடிக்கு, நீங்கள் ஏற்கனவே நியாயங்கேட்டு, பறிகொடுத்தவனை ஒடுக்குகிறவனுடைய கைக்குத் தப்புவியுங்கள் என்று கர்த்தர் சொல்லுகிறார்.
