பாவஞ்செய்யாத மனுஷன் இல்லையே; ஆகையால், அவர்கள் உமக்கு விரோதமாய்ப் பாவஞ்செய்து, தேவரீர் அவர்கள்மேல் கோபங்கொண்டு, அவர்கள் சத்துருக்கள் கையில் அவர்களை ஒப்புக்கொடுத்து, அந்தச் சத்துருக்கள் அவர்களைத் தூரத்திலாகிலும் சமீபத்திலாகிலும் இருக்கிற தங்கள் தேசத்திற்குச் சிறைப்பிடித்துக்கொண்டுபோகும்போது,

பாவஞ்செய்யாத மனுஷன் இல்லையே; ஆகையால் அவர்கள் உமக்கு விரோதமாய்ப் பாவஞ்செய்து, தேவரீர் அவர்கள்மேல் கோபங்கொண்டு, அவர்கள் சத்துருக்கள் கையில் அவர்களை ஒப்புக்கொடுக்கிறதினால், அவர்களைச் சிறைபிடிக்கிறவர்கள் அவர்களைத் தூரத்திலாகிலும் சமீபத்திலாகிலும் இருக்கிற தங்கள் தேசத்திற்குக் கொண்டுபோயிருக்கையில்,

எல்லாரும் பாவஞ்செய்து, தேவமகிமையற்றவர்களாகி,

என் இருதயத்தைச் சுத்தமாக்கினேன், என் பாவமறத் துப்புரவானேன் என்று சொல்லத்தக்கவன் யார்?

நாமெல்லாரும் ஆடுகளைப்போல வழிதப்பித்திரிந்து, அவனவன் தன்தன் வழியிலே போனோம்; கர்த்தரோ நம்மெல்லாருடைய அக்கிரமத்தையும் அவர்மேல் விழப்பண்ணினார்.

நாம் எல்லாரும் அநேக விஷயங்களில் தவறுகிறோம்; ஒருவன் சொல்தவறாதவனானால் அவன் பூரணபுருஷனும், தன் சரீரமுழுவதையும் கடிவாளத்தினாலே அடக்கிக்கொள்ளக்கூடியவனுமாயிருக்கிறான்.

நமக்குப் பாவமில்லையென்போமானால் நம்மை நாமே வஞ்சிக்கிறவர்களாயிருப்போம், சத்தியம் நமக்குள் இராது.

ஜீவனுள்ள ஒருவனும் உமக்கு முன்பாக நீதிமான் அல்லாததினாலே அடியேனை நியாயந்தீர்க்கப் பிரவேசியாதேயும்.

மனுஷனானவன் பரிசுத்தமாயிருக்கிறதற்கும், ஸ்திரீயினிடத்தில் பிறந்தவன் நீதிமானாயிருக்கிறதற்கும், அவன் எம்மாத்திரம்?

கர்த்தாவே, நீர் அக்கிரமங்களைக் கவனித்திருப்பீரானால், யார் நிலைநிற்பான், ஆண்டவரே.

நாங்கள் அனைவரும் தீட்டானவர்கள்போல இருக்கிறோம்; எங்களுடைய நீதிகளெல்லாம் அழுக்கான கந்தைபோல இருக்கிறது, நாங்கள் அனைவரும் இலைகளைப்போல் உதிருகிறோம்; எங்கள் அக்கிரமங்கள் காற்றைப்போல் எங்களை அடித்துக்கொண்டுபோகிறது.
