அவர்கள் புத்தியில் அந்தகாரப்பட்டு, தங்கள் இருதய கடினத்தினால் தங்களில் இருக்கும் அறியாமையினாலே தேவனுடைய ஜீவனுக்கு அந்நியராயிருந்து;

அவர்கள் புத்தியில் இருள் அடைந்து, தங்களுடைய இருதயக் கடினத்தினால் தங்களில் இருக்கும் அறியாமையினாலே தேவன் தரும் ஜீவனுக்கு அந்நியர்களாக இருந்து;

அந்த மக்கள் புரிந்துகொள்ள மாட்டார்கள். அவர்களின் மனம் மூடியது, இதயம் கடினமானது, அவர்களுக்கு ஒன்றும் தெரியாது. எனவே தேவன் கொடுக்கிற வாழ்க்கை அவர்களுக்கு இல்லை.

அவர்களது மனம் இருளடைந்திருக்கிறது. அவர்களது பிடிவாத உள்ளத்தின் விளைவாய் ஏற்பட்ட அறியாமையின் காரணத்தால் அவர்கள் கடவுள் தரும் வாழ்வுக்குப் புறம்பானவர்களாக இருக்கிறார்கள்.
