அன்றைய தினம் ஆமான் சந்தோஷமும் மனமகிழ்ச்சியுமாய்ப் புறப்பட்டான்; ஆனாலும் ராஜாவின் அரமனை வாசலிலிருக்கிற மொர்தெகாய் தனக்கு முன் எழுந்திராமலும் அசையாமலும் இருக்கிறதை ஆமான் கண்டபோது, அவன் மொர்தெகாயின்மேல் உக்கிரம் நிறைந்தவனானான்.

அவனது வீட்டைவிட்டு ஆமான் மிகவும் மகிழ்ச்சியோடு சென்றான். அவன் நல்ல மனநிலையில் இருந்தான். ஆனால் அவன் மொர்தெகாயை அரசனது வாசலில் பார்த்ததும் அவனுக்கு மொர்தெகாய் மீது கோபம் வந்தது. ஆமான் மொர்தெகாய் மீது மிகுந்த கோபமடைந்தான். ஏனென்றால், அவன் ஆமான் நடந்து வரும்போது எவ்வித மரியாதையையும் தரவில்லை. மொர்தெகாய் ஆமானைக் கண்டு பயப்படவில்லை. அது அவனை மேலும் கோபத்திற்குள்ளாக்கிற்று.
