ராஜா உக்கிரத்தோடே திராட்சரப் பந்தியை விட்டெழுந்து, அரமனைத்தோட்டத்திற்குப் போனான்; ராஜாவினால் தனக்குப் பொல்லாப்பு நிர்ணயிக்கப்பட்டதென்று ஆமான் கண்டு, ராஜாத்தியாகிய எஸ்தரிடத்தில் தன் பிராணனுக்காக விண்ணப்பம்பண்ண எழுந்து நின்றான்.

ராஜா கடுங்கோபத்தோடு திராட்சைரசப் பந்தியைவிட்டு எழுந்து, அரண்மனைத் தோட்டத்திற்குப் போனான்; ராஜாவினால் தனக்கு ஆபத்து நிர்ணயிக்கப்பட்டதென்று ஆமான் கண்டு, ராணியாகிய எஸ்தரிடம் தன்னுடைய உயிருக்காக விண்ணப்பம்செய்ய எழுந்து நின்றான்.

அரசன் மிகவும் கோபம் அடைந்தான். அவன் எழுந்து திராட்சைரசம் விருந்தைவிட்டு, தோட்டத்திற்குள் சென்றான். ஆனால் ஆமான் உள்ளே இருந்து எஸ்தர் அரசியிடம் தன் உயிரைக் காப்பாற்றுமாறு கெஞ்சினான். அவன் தன் உயிருக்காக மன்றாடினான். ஏனென்றால், அவனைக் கொல்லுமாறு ஏற்கெனவே அரசன் முடிவுச் செய்துவிட்டதை அவன் அறிந்தான்.

மன்னர் கடுஞ்சினமுற்று, விருந்தில் திராட்சை மது அருந்துவதை விட்டுவிட்டு, எழுந்து அரண்மனைப் பூங்காவில் நுழைந்தார். தனக்குத் தீங்கிழைக்க மன்னர் முடிவு செய்துவிட்டார் என்று கண்ட ஆமான் அரசி எஸ்தரிடம் தன் உயிருக்காய் மன்றாட எண்ணிப் பின்தங்கினான்.
