கர்த்தர் எகிப்தின் ராஜாவாகிய பார்வோனின் இருதயத்தைக் கடினப்படுத்தினார்; அவன் இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரரைப் பின்தொடர்ந்தான், இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரர் பலத்த கையுடன் புறப்பட்டுப் போனார்கள்.

வெற்றிக் களிப்போடு தங்கள் கைகளை உயர்த்தியவர்களாய் இஸ்ரவேல் ஜனங்கள் புறப்பட்டுச் சென்றுகொண்டிருந்தனர். ஆனால் எகிப்திய அரசனாகிய பார்வோன் தைரியம் கொள்ளும்படியாக கர்த்தர் செய்தார். பார்வோன் இஸ்ரவேல் ஜனங்களைத் துரத்தினான்.

ஆண்டவர் எகிப்திய மன்னனாகிய பார்வோனின் மனம் இறுகிவிடச் செய்தார்; அவனும் இஸ்ரயேல் மக்களைத் துரத்திச் சென்றான். இஸ்ரயேல் மக்களோ வெற்றிக்கை உயர்த்தியவாறு சென்றுகொண்டிருந்தனர்.
