கர்த்தராகிய நீர் இந்த ஜனங்களின் நடுவே இருக்கிறதையும், கர்த்தராகிய நீர் முகமுகமாய்த் தரிசனமாகிறதையும், உம்முடைய மேகம் இவர்கள்மேல் நிற்கிறதையும், பகலில் மேகத்தூணிலும், இரவில் அக்கினித்தூணிலும், நீர் இவர்களுக்கு முன் செல்லுகிறதையும் கேட்டிருக்கிறார்கள், இந்த தேசத்தின் குடிகளுக்கும் சொல்லுவார்கள்.

வானத்தின்கீழ் எங்குமுள்ள ஜனங்கள் உன்னாலே திகிலும் பயமும் அடையும்படி செய்ய இன்று நான் தொடங்குவேன்; அவர்கள் உன் கீர்த்தியைக் கேட்டு, உன்னிமித்தம் நடுங்கி, வேதனைப்படுவார்கள் என்றார்.

கர்த்தர் உங்களுக்கு தேசத்தை ஒப்புக்கொடுத்தாரென்றும், உங்களைப்பற்றி எங்களுக்குத் திகில் பிடித்திருக்கிறதென்றும், உங்களைக்குறித்து தேசத்துக் குடிகள் எல்லாரும் சோர்ந்துபோனார்கள் என்றும் அறிவேன்.

அவர்கள் யோசுவாவுக்குப் பிரதியுத்தரமாக: தேசத்தையெல்லாம் உங்களுக்கு ஒப்புக்கொடுக்கவும், தேசத்தின் குடிகளையெல்லாம் உங்களுக்கு முன்பாக அழிக்கவும் உம்முடைய தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் தமது தாசனாகிய மோசேக்குக் கட்டளையிட்டது உமது அடியாருக்கு நிச்சயமாகவே அறிவிக்கப்பட்டதினால், நாங்கள் எங்கள் ஜீவன்நிமித்தம் உங்களுக்கு மிகவும் பயந்து, இந்தக்காரியத்தைச் செய்தோம்.

அவன் பேயோரின் குமாரனாகிய பிலேயாமை அழைத்துவரும்படி, தன் சந்ததியாருடைய தேசத்தில் நதியருகேயுள்ள பெத்தூருக்கு ஸ்தானாபதிகளை அனுப்பி: எகிப்திலிருந்து ஒரு ஜனக்கூட்டம் வந்திருக்கிறது; அவர்கள் பூமியின் விசாலத்தை மூடி, எனக்கு எதிரே இறங்கியிருக்கிறார்கள்.

ஜனங்களுக்கு நீ கட்டளையிடவேண்டியது என்னவென்றால்: சேயீரிலே குடியிருக்கிற ஏசாவின் புத்திரரான உங்கள் சகோதரரின் எல்லையைக் கடக்கப்போகிறீர்கள்; அவர்கள் உங்களுக்குப் பயப்படுவார்கள்; நீங்களோ மிகவும் எச்சரிக்கையாயிருங்கள்;

அங்கே நடுக்கங்கண்டு, பிரசவவேதனைப்படுகிற ஸ்திரீயைப்போல வேதனைப்பட்டார்கள்.

முழு பெலிஸ்தியாவே, உன்னை அடித்த கோல் முறிந்ததென்று அக்களிப்பாயிராதே; பாம்பின் வேரிலிருந்து கட்டுவிரியன் தோன்றும்; அதின் கனி பறக்கிற அக்கினி சர்ப்பமாயிருக்கும்.

வாசலே அலறு; நகரமே கதறு; பெலிஸ்தியாவே, நீ முழுதும் கரைந்துபோகிறாய்; ஏனென்றால், வடக்கே இருந்து புகைக்காடாய் வருகிறான்; அவன் கூட்டங்களில் தனித்தவனில்லை.
