ஆயிரம் தலைமுறைகளுக்கு இரக்கத்தைக் காக்கிறவர்; அக்கிரமத்தையும் மீறுதலையும் பாவத்தையும் மன்னிக்கிறவர்; குற்றவாளியைக் குற்றமற்றவனாக விடாமல், பிதாக்கள் செய்த அக்கிரமத்தைப் பிள்ளைகளிடத்திலும், பிள்ளைகளுடைய பிள்ளைகளிடத்திலும் மூன்றாம் நான்காம் தலைமுறைமட்டும் விசாரிக்கிறவர் என்று கூறினார்.

ஆயிரம் தலைமுறைகளுக்கு இரக்கத்தைக் காக்கிறவர்; அக்கிரமத்தையும், மீறுதலையும், பாவத்தையும் மன்னிக்கிறவர்; குற்றவாளியைக் குற்றம் இல்லாதவனாக விடாமல், தகப்பன்மார்கள் செய்த அக்கிரமத்தைப் பிள்ளைகளிடத்திலும், பிள்ளைகளுடைய பிள்ளைகளிடத்திலும் மூன்றாம் நான்காம் தலைமுறைவரை தண்டிக்கிறவர் என்று கூறினார்.

ஆயிரம் தலைமுறைவரைக்கும் கர்த்தர் தமது இரக்கத்தைக் காட்டுவார். ஜனங்கள் செய்கிற தவறுகளைக் கர்த்தர் மன்னிப்பார். ஆனால் குற்றவாளிகளைத் தண்டிக்க கர்த்தர் மறப்பதில்லை. கர்த்தர் குற்றவாளிகளை மட்டும் தண்டிக்காமல் அவர்களின் பிள்ளைகளையும், பேரக் குழந்தைகளையும், அவர்களின் பிள்ளைகளையும், அவர்கள் செய்த தீயகாரியங்களுக்காகத் தண்டிப்பார்” என்றார்.
