எனவே திராட்சைக் கொடியிலுள்ள குச்சிகளும் காட்டிலுள்ள மற்ற மரங்களின் குச்சிகளைப் போன்றவை தான். ஜனங்கள் அம்மரத்துண்டுகளை நெருப்பில் எறிவார்கள்.” நெருப்பு அவற்றை எரிக்கும்! அதுபோலவே, நானும் எருசலேமில் வாழ்கிற ஜனங்களை நெருப்பில் எறிவேன். எனது கர்த்தராகிய ஆண்டவர் இதைச் சொன்னார்.

ஆகவே, தலைவராகிய ஆண்டவர் இவ்வாறு கூறுகிறார்; காட்டுத் தாவரங்களுள் ஒன்றான திராட்சைக் கொடியை நான் நெருப்புக்கு இரையாக அளித்தது போல், எருசலேமில் வாழ்வோரையும் கையளிப்பேன்.
