மனுபுத்திரனே நீ தீருவின் அதிபதியை நோக்கி கர்த்தராகிய ஆண்டவர் உரைக்கிறது என்னவென்றால், உன் இருதயம் மேட்டிமைகொண்டு: நான் தேவன், நான் சமுத்திரத்தின் நடுவே தேவாசனத்தில் வீற்றிருக்கிறேனென்று நீ சொல்லி, உன் இருதயத்தை தேவனின் இருதயத்தைப்போல் ஆக்கினாலும், நீ மனுஷனேயல்லாமல் தேவனல்ல.

மனிதகுமாரனே, நீ தீருவின் அதிபதியை நோக்கி: கர்த்தராகிய ஆண்டவர் சொல்லுகிறது என்னவென்றால், உன்னுடைய இருதயம் மேட்டிமைகொண்டு: நான் தேவன், நான் கடலின் நடுவே தேவாசனத்தில் வீற்றிருக்கிறேன் என்று நீ சொல்லி, உன்னுடைய இருதயத்தைத் தேவனின் இருதயத்தைப்போல ஆக்கினாலும், நீ மனிதனேயல்லாமல் தேவனல்ல.

“மனுபுத்திரனே, தீருவின் அரசனிடம் கூறு: ‘எனது கர்த்தராகிய ஆண்டவர் இவற்றைக் கூறுகிறார்: “‘நீ மிகவும் பெருமைகொண்டவன்! நீ சொல்கிறாய்: “நான் தெய்வம்! கடல்களின் நடுவே தெய்வங்கள் வாழும் இடங்களில் நான் அமருவேன்.” “‘நீ ஒரு மனிதன். தெய்வம் அல்ல! நீ தேவன் என்று மட்டும் நினைக்கிறாய்.

⁽மானிடா! தீர் நகரின் மன்னனுக்குச் சொல். தலைவராகிய ஆண்டவர் கூறுவது இதுவே:␢ உன் இதயத்தின் செருக்கில்,␢ ‘நானே கடவுள்;␢ நான் கடல் நடுவே␢ கடவுளின் அரியணையில்␢ வீற்றிருக்கிறேன்’␢ என்று சொல்கின்றாய், ஆனால்␢ நீ கடவுளைப்போல்␢ அறிவாளியாக இருப்பதாக␢ எண்ணிடினும்,␢ நீ கடவுளல்ல; மனிதனே!⁾
