மனுபுத்திரனே, பாபிலோன் ராஜாவாகிய நேபுகாத்நேச்சார் தீருவின் முன்னே தன் சேனையினிடத்தில் கடும் ஊழியம் வாங்கினான்; ஒவ்வொரு தலையும் மொட்டையாயிற்று; ஒவ்வொரு தோள்பட்டையின் தோலும் உரிந்துபோயிற்று; ஆனாலும் அவன் தீருவுக்கு விரோதமாகச் செய்த ஊழியத்தினாலே அவனுக்காவது அவன் சேனைக்காவது கூலி கிடைக்கவில்லை.

மனிதகுமாரனே, பாபிலோன் ராஜாவாகிய நேபுகாத்நேச்சார் தீருவின் முன்னே தன்னுடைய சேனையினிடத்தில் கடும் வேலை வாங்கினான்; ஒவ்வொரு தலையும் மொட்டையானது; ஒவ்வொரு தோள்பட்டையின் தோலும் உரிந்துபோனது; ஆனாலும் அவன் தீருவுக்கு விரோதமாகச் செய்த வேலையினால் அவனுக்கோ அவனுடைய சேனைக்கோ கூலி கிடைக்கவில்லை.

“மனுபுத்திரனே, பாபிலோன் அரசனான நேபுகாத்நேச்சார், தீருவுக்கு எதிராகத் தன் படையைக் கடுமையாகப் போரிடுமாறு செய்தான். அவர்கள் எல்லா வீரர்களின் தலைகளையும் மொட்டையடித்தனர். ஒவ்வொருவரின் தோளும் பாரமான தடிகள் சுமந்து தோல் உரிந்துபோனது, நேபுகாத்நேச்சாரும் அவனது படையும் தீருவைத் தோற்கடிக்கக் கடுமையாக வேலை செய்தது. ஆனால் அக்கடும் வேலையால் அவர்கள் எதையும் பெறவில்லை.”

“மானிடா! பாபிலோன் மன்னன் நெபுகத்னேசர் தீர் நகரை முற்றுகையிடுகையில் தன் படைகளுடன் வருந்தி முயன்றான்; தலைகள் யாவும் மொட்டையடிக்கப்பட்டன; தோள்கள் யாவும் புண்ணாய்ப் போயின. ஆயினும் தீர் நகருக்கு எதிராக அவனும் அவன் படைகளும் செய்த முற்றுகையில் அவர்களுக்கு யாதொரு கைம்மாறும் கிட்டாமற் போயிற்று.
