கர்த்தராகிய ஆண்டவர் சொல்லுகிறது என்னவென்றால்: அவன் பாதாளத்தில் இறங்குற நாளில் புலம்பலை வருவித்தேன்; நான் அவனிமித்தம் ஆழத்தை மூடிப்போட்டு, திரளான தண்ணீர்கள் ஓடாதபடிக்கு அதின் ஆறுகளை அடைத்து, அதினிமித்தம் லீபனோனை இருளடையப்பண்ணினேன்; வெளியின் விருட்சங்களெல்லாம் அவனிமித்தம் பட்டுப்போயின.

எனது கர்த்தராகிய ஆண்டவர் இவற்றைக் கூறுகிறார்: “அந்த மரம் சீயோலுக்குள் இறங்கும் நாளிலே எல்லோரையும் அதற்காகத் துக்கப்படும்படிச் செய்தேன். லீபனோன் அதற்காகத் துக்கப்பட்டது. வயல்வெளியிலுள்ள எல்லா மரங்களும் அதன் வீழ்ச்சியைக் கேட்டு துக்கமும் அதிர்ச்சியும் அடைந்தன. ஆழ்கடல் தன் தண்ணீர் ஓட்டத்தையும் அதன் ஆறுகளையும் நிறுத்தியது.

எனவே, தலைவராகிய ஆண்டவர் இவ்வாறு கூறுகிறார்; அந்த மரம் பாதாளத்திற்கு இறங்குகையில், ஆழ்நிலைகள் இழவின் அடையாளமாக அதனை மூடச் செய்வேன். அதன் ஆறுகளை நிறுத்தி, நீர்த்திரளுக்கு அணைபோடுவேன்; அதனை முன்னிட்டு லெபனோனை இருளால் மூடுவேன். காட்டு மரங்கள் எல்லாம் பட்டுப்போம்.

Thus saith the Lord GOD; In the day when he went down to the grave I caused a mourning: I covered the deep for him, and I restrained the floods thereof, and the great waters were stayed: and I caused Lebanon to mourn for him, and all the trees of the field fainted for him.
