கர்த்தராகிய ஆண்டவர் உரைக்கிறது என்னவென்றால் நான் துன்மார்க்கனுடைய மரணத்தை விரும்பாமல், துன்மார்க்கன் தன் வழியைவிட்டுத் திரும்பிப் பிழைப்பதையே விரும்புகிறேன் என்று என் ஜீவனைக்கொண்டு சொல்லுகிறேன்; இஸ்ரவேல் வம்சத்தாரே, உங்கள் பொல்லாத வழிகளைவிட்டுத் திரும்புங்கள், திரும்புங்கள்; நீங்கள் ஏன் சாகவேண்டும் என்கிறார் என்று அவர்களோடே சொல்லு.

கர்த்தராகிய ஆண்டவர் சொல்லுகிறது என்னவென்றால்: நான் துன்மார்க்கனுடைய மரணத்தை விரும்பாமல், துன்மார்க்கன் தன்னுடைய வழியை விட்டுத் திரும்பிப் பிழைப்பதையே விரும்புகிறேன் என்று என்னுடைய ஜீவனைக்கொண்டு சொல்லுகிறேன்; இஸ்ரவேல் மக்களே, உங்களுடைய பொல்லாத வழிகளை விட்டுத் திரும்புங்கள், திரும்புங்கள்; நீங்கள் ஏன் இறக்கவேண்டும் என்கிறார் என்று அவர்களுடன் சொல்லு.

“நீ அவர்களிடம் சொல்ல வேண்டும். ‘எனது கர்த்தராகிய ஆண்டவர் இவற்றைக் கூறுகிறார்: என் உயிரின் மேல் ஆணையிடுகிறேன், நான் ஜனங்கள் மரிப்பதை, பாவிகள் கூட மரிப்பதைப் பார்ப்பதில் மகிழ்ச்சியடைவதில்லை. அவர்கள் மரிப்பதை நான் விரும்புவதில்லை. அந்தப் பாவி ஜனங்களும் என்னிடம் திரும்பி வருவதையே நான் விரும்புகிறேன். நான், அவர்கள் வாழ்வை மாற்றிக்கொண்டு உண்மையான வாழ்க்கை வாழ்வதை விரும்புகிறேன். எனவே என்னிடம் திரும்பி வா. தீமை செய்வதை நிறுத்து. இஸ்ரவேல் வம்சத்தாரே நீங்கள் ஏன் மரிக்க வேண்டும்?’
