சட்டங்களின் விதி முறைகளை ஒருவன் பின்பற்றுவதினாலேயே தேவனுக்கு வேண்டியவனாக முடியாது என்பது எங்களுக்குத் தெரியும். இயேசு கிறிஸ்துவின் மீது எவன் நம்பிக்கை வைக்கிறானோ அவனே தேவனுக்கு வேண்டியவனாகிறான். எனவே, நாம் இயேசு கிறிஸ்துவிடம் நம்பிக்கை வைத்திருக்கிறோம். ஏனென்றால் நாம் தேவனுக்கு வேண்டியவர்களாக வேண்டும். நாம் சட்டங்களைப் பின்பற்றுவதால் அல்ல, இயேசுவின் மீது விசுவாசம் வைப்பதாலேயே தேவனுக்கு வேண்டியவர்களாக இருக்கிறோம். இது உண்மை. ஏனென்றால் சட்டங்களைப் பின்பற்றுவதன் மூலம் எவரொருவரும் தேவனுக்கு வேண்டியவராக முடியாது.

எனினும் திருச்சட்டம் சார்ந்த செயல்களால் அல்ல, இயேசு கிறிஸ்துவின் மீது கொள்ளும் நம்பிக்கையால்தான் ஒருவர் இறைவனுக்கு ஏற்புடையவர் ஆகமுடியும் என நாம் அறிந்திருக்கிறோம். ஆதலால்தான் நாமும் சட்டம் சார்ந்த செயல்களால் அல்ல, நம்பிக்கையால் இறைவனுக்கு எற்புடையவராகுமாறு கிறிஸ்து இயேசுவின் மீது நம்பிக்கை கொண்டுள்ளோம். ஏனெனில் சட்டம் சார்ந்த செயல்களால் எவருமே இறைவனுக்கு ஏற்புடையவர் ஆவதில்லை.
