அப்பொழுது தேவன்: உத்தம இருதயத்தோடே நீ இதைச் செய்தாய் என்று நான் அறிந்திருக்கிறேன்; நீ எனக்கு விரோதமாகப் பாவம் செய்யாதபடிக்கு உன்னைத் தடுத்தேன்; ஆகையால், நீ அவளைத் தொட நான் உனக்கு இடங்கொடுக்கவில்லை.

அப்பொழுது தேவன்: உத்தம இருதயத்தோடு நீ இதைச் செய்தாய் என்று நான் அறிந்திருக்கிறேன்; நீ எனக்கு விரோதமாகப் பாவம் செய்யாமலிருக்க உன்னைத் தடுத்தேன்; ஆகையால், நீ அவளைத் தொட நான் உனக்கு இடங்கொடுக்கவில்லை.

தேவன் அவனிடம், “நீ என்ன மனநிலையில் இதைச் செய்தாய் என்று எனக்குத் தெரியும். நீ என்ன செய்கிறாய் என்பது உனக்குத் தெரியாது. நீ எனக்கு எதிராகப் பாவம் செய்யாதபடி நான் உன்னைக் காப்பாற்றினேன். நீ அவளைத் தொடாதபடி நானே உன்னைத் தடுத்தேன்.

கடவுள், கனவில் தோன்றி, அவனை நோக்கி, “நீ நேரிய இதயத்தோடு அப்படிச் செய்தாயென்று அறிவேன். அதனால்தான் எனக்கு எதிராகப் பாவம் செய்யாத உன்னைக் காப்பாற்றி, அவளைத் தொடவிடவில்லை.
