அங்கே அவன் ஒரு சொப்பனம் கண்டான்; இதோ, ஒரு ஏணி பூமியிலே வைக்கப்பட்டிருந்தது, அதின் நுனி வானத்தை எட்டியிருந்தது, அதிலே தேவதூதர் ஏறுகிறவர்களும் இறங்குகிறவர்களுமாய் இருந்தார்கள்.

யாக்கோபு ஒரு கனவு கண்டான். கனவில் வானத்தைத் தொடும் அளவுக்கு உயரமாய் இருந்த ஒரு ஏணியைக் கண்டான். தேவதூதர்கள் அதில் ஏறி மேலும் கீழும் வந்து போய்க்கொண்டிருந்தனர்.

அப்போது அவன் கண்ட கனவு இதுவே; நிலத்தில் ஊன்றியிருந்த ஓர் ஏணியின் நுனி மேலே வானத்தைத் தொட்டுக் கொண்டு இருந்தது. அதில் கடவுளின் தூதர் ஏறுவதும் இறங்குவதுமாய் இருந்தனர்.
