பகலிலே வெயிலும் இரவிலே குளிரும் என்னைப் பட்சித்தது; நித்திரை என் கண்களுக்குத் தூரமாயிருந்தது; இவ்விதமாய்ப் பாடுபட்டேன்.

பகலில் கொடும் வெயிலும் இரவில் கடும் குளிரும் என்னை வாட்டின. அதனால் என் கண்களுக்கு உறக்கமே இல்லை.
