போவாஸ் பட்டணவாசலில் போய், உட்கார்ந்துகொண்டிருந்தான்; அப்பொழுது போவாஸ் சொல்லியிருந்த அந்தச் சுதந்தரவாளி அந்த வழியே வந்தான்; அவனை நோக்கி: ஓய், என்று பேர் சொல்லிக் கூப்பிட்டு, இங்கே வந்து சற்று உட்காரும் என்றான்; அவன் வந்து உட்கார்ந்தான்.

நான் உன்னை ஆசீர்வதிக்கவே ஆசீர்வதித்து, உன் சந்ததியை வானத்தின் நட்சத்திரங்களைப் போலவும், கடற்கரை மணலைப்போலவும் பெருகவே பெருகப் பண்ணுவேன் என்றும், உன் சந்ததியார் தங்கள் சத்துருக்களின் வாசல்களைச் சுதந்தரித்துக்கொள்ளுவார்கள் என்றும்,

எப்பெரோன் ஏத்தின் புத்திரர் நடுவிலே உட்கார்ந்திருந்தான்; அப்பொழுது ஏத்தியனாகிய எப்பெரோன் தன் ஊர் வாசலுக்குள் பிரவேசிக்கிற ஏத்தின் புத்திரர் அனைவரும் கேட்க ஆபிரகாமுக்குப் பிரதியுத்தரமாக:

அந்த அக்கிரமத்தைச் செய்த புருஷனையாவது ஸ்திரீயையாவது உன் வாசல்களுக்கு வெளியே கொண்டுபோய், அப்படிப்பட்டவர்கள் சாகும்படி கல்லெறியக்கடவாய்.

மேலும் அப்சலோம் காலைதோறும் எழுந்திருந்து, பட்டணத்து வாசலுக்குப் போகிற வழி ஓரத்திலே நின்றுகொண்டு, எவனாகிலும் தனக்கு இருக்கிற வழக்கு முகாந்தரமாய் ராஜாவினிடத்தில் நியாயத்திற்காகப் போகும்போது, அவனை அழைத்து, நீ எந்த ஊரான் என்று கேட்பான்; அவன் உமது அடியான் இஸ்ரவேல் கோத்திரங்களில் ஒன்றுக்கடுத்த இன்ன ஊரான் என்றால்,

நான் பட்டணவீதியால் வாசலுக்குள் புறப்பட்டுப்போய், வீதியில் என் ஆசனத்தைப் போடும்போது,

அவள் புருஷன் தேசத்து மூப்பர்களோடே நியாயஸ்தலங்களில் உட்கார்ந்திருக்கையில் பேர்பெற்றவனாயிருக்கிறான்.

ஒலிமுகவாசலிலே கடிந்துகொள்ளுகிறவனை அவர்கள் பகைத்து, யதார்த்தமாய்ப் பேசுகிறவனை வெறுக்கிறார்கள்.

உங்கள் மீறுதல்கள் மிகுதியென்றும், உங்கள் பாவங்கள் பலத்ததென்றும் அறிவேன்; நீதிமானை ஒடுக்கி, பரிதானம் வாங்கி ஒலிமுகவாசலில் ஏழைகளின் நியாயத்தைப் புரட்டுகிறீர்கள்.

நீங்கள் தீமையை வெறுத்து நன்மையை விரும்பி, ஒலிமுகவாசலில் நியாயத்தை நிலைப்படுத்துங்கள்; ஒருவேளை சேனைகளின் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் யோசேப்பிலே மீதியானவர்களுக்கு இரங்குவார்.

நீங்கள் செய்யவேண்டிய காரியங்கள் என்னவென்றால்: அவனவன் பிறனோடே உண்மையைப் பேசுங்கள்; உங்கள் வாசல்களில் சத்தியத்துக்கும் சமாதானத்துக்கும் ஏற்க நியாயந்தீருங்கள்.
