ஆகிலும், அவர்களுடைய வம்ச வரிசையில் வராதவனாகிய இவன் ஆபிரகாமின் கையில் தசமபாகம் வாங்கி, வாக்குத்தத்தங்களைப் பெற்றவனை ஆசீர்வதித்தான்.

ஆனால், அவர்களுடைய தலைமுறையைச் சாராத மெல்கிசதேக்கு ஆபிரகாமிடமிருந்து பத்தில் ஒரு பங்கைப் பெற்றார். வாக்குறுதிகளைப் பெற்றிருந்த ஆபிரகாமுக்கே அவர் ஆசி அளித்தார்.

இணை வசனம்

அன்றியும், உலகத்தைச் சுதந்தரிப்பான் என்கிற வாக்குத்தத்தம் ஆபிரகாமுக்காவது அவன் சந்ததிக்காவது நியாயப்பிரமாணத்தினால் கிடையாமல் விசுவாசத்தினால் வருகிற நீதியினால் கிடைத்தது.

அவனை ஆசீர்வதித்து, வானத்தையும் பூமியையும் உடையவராகிய உன்னதமான தேவனுடைய ஆசீர்வாதம் ஆபிராமுக்கு உண்டாவதாக.

இவன் தகப்பனும் தாயும் வம்சவரலாறும் இல்லாதவன்; இவன் நாட்களின் துவக்கமும் ஜீவனின் முடிவுமுடையவனாயிராமல், தேவனுடைய குமாரனுக்கு ஒப்பானவனாய் என்றென்றைக்கும் ஆசாரியனாக நிலைத்திருக்கிறான்.

நான் உன்னைப் பெரிய ஜாதியாக்கி, உன்னை ஆசீர்வதித்து, உன் பேரைப் பெருமைப்படுத்துவேன்; நீ ஆசீர்வாதமாய் இருப்பாய்.

ஆகையால், உன்னிமித்தம் எனக்கு நன்மை உண்டாகும்படிக்கும், உன்னாலே என் உயிர் பிழைக்கும்படிக்கும், நீ உன்னை என் சகோதரி என்று சொல் என்றான்.

லோத்து ஆபிராமைவிட்டுப் பிரிந்தபின்பு, கர்த்தர் ஆபிராமை நோக்கி: உன் கண்களை ஏறெடுத்து, நீ இருக்கிற இடத்திலிருந்து வடக்கேயும், தெற்கேயும், கிழக்கேயும், மேற்கேயும் நோக்கிப்பார்.

நான் உன்னோடே பண்ணுகிற என் உடன்படிக்கை என்னவென்றால், நீ திரளான ஜாதிகளுக்குத் தகப்பனாவாய்.

நான் உன்னை ஆசீர்வதிக்கவே ஆசீர்வதித்து, உன் சந்ததியை வானத்தின் நட்சத்திரங்களைப் போலவும், கடற்கரை மணலைப்போலவும் பெருகவே பெருகப் பண்ணுவேன் என்றும், உன் சந்ததியார் தங்கள் சத்துருக்களின் வாசல்களைச் சுதந்தரித்துக்கொள்ளுவார்கள் என்றும்,

நீங்கள் அந்தத் தீர்க்கதரிசிகளுக்குப் புத்திரராயிருக்கிறீர்கள்; உன் சந்ததியினாலே பூமியிலுள்ள வம்சங்களெல்லாம் ஆசீர்வதிக்கப்படும் என்று தேவன் ஆபிரகாமுக்குச் சொல்லி, நம்முடைய முன்னோர்களோடே பண்ணின உடன்படிக்கைக்குப் புத்திரராயிருக்கிறீர்கள்.

அவர்கள் இஸ்ரவேலரே; புத்திரசுவிகாரமும், மகிமையும், உடன்படிக்கைகளும், நியாயப்பிரமாணமும், தேவாராதனையும், வாக்குத்தத்தங்களும் அவர்களுடையவைகளே;

ஆபிரகாமுக்கும் அவனுடைய சந்ததிக்கும் வாக்குத்தத்தங்கள் பண்ணப்பட்டன; சந்ததிகளுக்கு என்று அநேகரைக்குறித்துச் சொல்லாமல், உன் சந்ததிக்கு என்று ஒருவனைக்குறித்துச் சொல்லியிருக்கிறார், அந்தச் சந்ததி கிறிஸ்துவே.

ஆபிரகாமுக்கு தேவன் வாக்குத்தத்தம்பண்ணினபோது, ஆணையிடும்படி தம்மிலும் பெரியவர் ஒருவருமில்லாதபடியினாலே தமது பேரிலே தானே ஆணையிட்டு:

இந்த மெல்கிசேதேக்கு சாலேமின் ராஜாவும், உன்னதமான தேவனுடைய ஆசாரியனுமாயிருந்தான்; ராஜாக்களை முறியடித்துவந்த ஆபிரகாமுக்கு இவன் எதிர்கொண்டுபோய், அவனை ஆசீர்வதித்தான்.

இவர்களெல்லாரும், வாக்குத்தத்தம்பண்ணப்பட்டவைகளை அடையாமல், தூரத்திலே அவைகளைக் கண்டு, நம்பி அணைத்துக்கொண்டு, பூமியின்மேல் தங்களை அந்நியரும் பரதேசிகளும் என்று அறிக்கையிட்டு, விசுவாசத்தோடே மரித்தார்கள்.

மேலும் விசுவாசத்தினாலே ஆபிரகாம் தான் சோதிக்கப்பட்டபோது. ஈசாக்கைப் பலியாக ஒப்புக்கொடுத்தான்
