இஸ்ரவேலென்னும் பெயர்பெற்று, யூதாவின் நீரூற்றிலிருந்து சுரந்தவர்களும், கர்த்தருடைய நாமத்தின்மேல் ஆணையிட்டு, உண்மையும் நீதியும் இல்லாமல் இஸ்ரவேலின் தேவனை அறிக்கையிடுகிறவர்களுமான யாக்கோபின் வம்சத்தாரே, கேளுங்கள்.

கர்த்தர் கூறுகிறார், “யாக்கோபின் குடும்பமே! என்னைக் கவனி! உங்களை நீங்கள் ‘இஸ்ரவேல்’ என்று அழைக்கிறீர்கள். யூதாவின் குடும்பத்தில் இருந்து நீங்கள் வந்திருக்கிறீர்கள். வாக்குறுதிகள் கொடுக்க நீங்கள் கர்த்தருடைய நாமத்தைப் பயன்படுத்துகிறீர்கள். இஸ்ரவேலின் தேவனை நீங்கள் துதிக்கிறீர்கள். ஆனால் நீங்கள் இவற்றைச் செய்யும்போது உண்மையாகவும் நேர்மையாகவும் இல்லாமல் இருக்கிறீர்கள்.”

⁽யாக்கோபின் வீட்டாரே! இதற்குச்␢ செவிகொடுங்கள்;␢ நீங்கள் இஸ்ரயேல் என்னும் பெயரால்␢ அழைக்கப்படுகிறீர்கள்;␢ யூதாவெனும் ஊற்றினின்று␢ தோன்றியுள்ளீர்கள்;␢ ஆண்டவரின் பெயரால்␢ ஆணையிடுகின்றீர்கள்;␢ இஸ்ரயேலின் கடவுளைப்␢ புகழ்கின்றீர்கள்.␢ ஆயினும், உண்மையுடனும்␢ நேர்மையுடனும்␢ இவற்றைச் செய்வதில்லை.⁾
