இதோ, அவர்கள் எல்லாரும் மாயை, அவர்கள் கிரியைகள் விருதா; அவர்களுடைய விக்கிரகங்கள் காற்றும் வெறுமையுந்தானே.

மனுஷர் அனைவரும் அறிவில்லாமல் மிருககுணமுள்ளவர்களானார்கள்; தட்டார் அனைவரும் வார்ப்பித்த சுரூபங்களாலே வெட்கிப்போகிறார்கள்; அவர்கள் வார்ப்பித்த விக்கிரகம் பொய்யே, அவைகளில் ஆவி இல்லை.

சித்திரக்காரனுக்கு அவன் செய்த சுரூபமும், ஊமையான தெய்வங்களை உண்டுபண்ணித் தான் உருவாக்கின சுரூபத்தை நம்பினவனுக்கு வார்க்கப்பட்டதும் பொய்ப்போதகம் பண்ணுகிறதுமான விக்கிரகமும் என்னத்துக்கு உதவும்?

சுரூபங்கள் அபத்தமானதைச் சொல்லிற்று; குறிசொல்லுகிறவர்கள் பொய்யைத் தரித்தார்கள்; சொரூபக்காரர் வீணானதைச் சொல்லி, வியர்த்தமாகத் தேற்றரவுபண்ணினார்கள்; ஆகையால் ஜனங்கள் ஆடுகளைப்போலச் சிதறி, மேய்ப்பனில்லாததினால் சிறுமைப்பட்டார்கள்.

அவைகளைப் பண்ணுகிறவர்களும், அவைகளை நம்புகிறவர்கள் யாவரும், அவைகளைப்போலவே இருக்கிறார்கள்.

அதில் பாதியை அடுப்பில் எரித்தேன்; அதின் தழலின்மேல் அப்பத்தையும் சுட்டு, இறைச்சியையும் பொரித்துப் புசித்தேன்; அதில் மீதியான துண்டை நான் அருவருப்பான விக்கிரகமாக்கலாமா? ஒரு மரக்கட்டையை வணங்கலாமா என்று சொல்ல, தன் மனதில் அவனுக்குத் தோன்றவில்லை; அம்மாத்திரம் அறிவும் சொரணையும் இல்லை.

அவர்கள் தங்கள் முகத்தையல்ல, தங்கள் முதுகை எனக்குக் காட்டினார்கள்; தங்கள் ஆபத்துக்காலத்திலோ எழுந்து எங்களை இரட்சியும் என்கிறார்கள்.

என் ஜனங்களோ மதியற்றவர்கள், என்னை அவர்கள் அறியாதிருக்கிறார்கள், அவர்கள் பைத்தியமுள்ள பிள்ளைகள், அவர்களுக்கு உணர்வே இல்லை; பொல்லாப்புச்செய்ய அவர்கள் அறிவாளிகள், நன்மைசெய்யவோ அவர்கள் அறிவில்லாதவர்கள்.

மனுஷர் அனைவரும் அறிவில்லாமல் மிருக குணமானார்கள்; தட்டார் அனைவரும் சுரூபங்களாலே வெட்கிப் போகிறார்கள்; அவர்கள் வார்ப்பித்த விக்கிரகம் பொய்யே, அவைகளில் சுவாசம் இல்லை.

என் ஜனங்கள் கட்டையினிடத்தில் ஆலோசனை கேட்கிறார்கள்; அவர்களுடைய கோல் அவர்களுக்குச் செய்தியை அறிவிக்குமென்றிருக்கிறார்கள்; வேசித்தன ஆவி அவர்களை வழிதப்பித் திரியப்பண்ணிற்று; அவர்கள் தங்கள் தேவனுக்குக் கீழ்ப்பட்டிராமல் சோரமார்க்கம் போனார்கள்.

அவர்கள் தேவனை அறிந்தும், அவரைத் தேவனென்று மகிமைப்படுத்தாமலும், ஸ்தோத்திரியாமலுமிருந்து, தங்கள் சிந்தனைகளினாலே வீணரானார்கள், உணர்வில்லாத அவர்களுடைய இருதயம் இருளடைந்தது.
