நீர் எங்களுக்காகக் கர்த்தரிடத்தில் விசாரியும்; பாபிலோன் ராஜாவޠΕிய நேபுகாத்நேச்சார் எங்களுக்கு விரோதமாய் யுத்தஞ்செய்கிறான்; ஒருவேளை கர்த்தர் தம்முடைய எல்லா அற்புதச் செயலின்படியேயும் எங்களுக்கு அநுக்கிரகஞ்செய்து, அவனை எங்களைவிட்டுப் போகப்பண்ணுவார் என்று சொல்லியனுப்பினபோது,

பஸ்கூரும் செப்பனியாவும் எரேமியாவிடம், “எங்களுக்காக கர்த்தரிடம் ஜெபம் செய். என்ன நிகழும் என்று கர்த்தரிடம் கேள். நாங்கள் அறிந்துக்கொள்ள விரும்புகிறோம். ஏனென்றால் பாபிலோனின் அரசனான நேபுகாத்நேச்சர் எங்களைத் தாக்கிக்கொண்டிருக்கிறான். கர்த்தர் கடந்த காலத்தில் செய்ததுபோன்று எங்களுக்குப் பெருஞ்செயல்களை ஒருவேளை செய்வார். நேபுகாத்நேச்சார் எங்களைத் தாக்குவதை நிறுத்தி விலகும்படி கர்த்தர் செய்வார்” என்றனர்.

அவர்கள் எரேமியாவிடம் வந்து, “பாபிலோனிய மன்னன் நெபுகத்னேசர் நமக்கு எதிராய்ப் போருக்குப் புறப்பட்டு வருகிறான். இந்நேரத்தில் ஆண்டவர் நமக்காக வியத்தகு செயல்கள் செய்து நெபுகத்னேசரைப் பின்வாங்க வைப்பாரா? என்று ஆண்டவரிடம் கேட்டுச் சொல்” என்றனர்.⒫

Enquire, I pray thee, of the LORD for us; for Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon maketh war against us; if so be that the LORD will deal with us according to all his wondrous works, that he may go up from us.

Inquire, I pray thee, of Jehovah for us; for Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon maketh war against us: peradventure Jehovah will deal with us according to all his wondrous works, that he may go up from us.
