அந்நிய தேவர்களைப் பின்பற்றாமலும், அவைகளுக்கு ஆராதனைசெய்யாமலும், அவைகளைப் பணியாமலுமிருந்து, நான் உங்களுக்குத் தீமைசெய்யாதபடிக்கு உங்கள் கைகளின் செய்கைகளால் எனக்குக் கோபமுண்டாக்காமலும் இருங்கள் என்று சொல்லியனுப்பினேன்.

அந்நிய தெய்வங்களைப் பின்பற்றாமலும், அவைகளுக்கு ஆராதனைசெய்யாமலும், அவைகளைப் பணியாமலுமிருந்து, நான் உங்களுக்குத் தீமைசெய்யாதபடிக்கு உங்கள் கைகளின் செய்கைகளால் எனக்குக் கோபமுண்டாக்காமலும் இருங்கள் என்று சொல்லியனுப்பினேன்.

அந்நிய தெய்வங்களைப் பின்பற்ற வேண்டாம். அவர்களைத் தொழுதுகொள்ளவோ அவர்களுக்கு சேவைசெய்யவோ வேண்டாம். யாரோ ஒருவர் செய்த விக்கிரகங்களைத் தொழுதுகொள்ள வேண்டாம். அது உங்கள் மீது எனக்குக் கோபத்தை மட்டும் ஊட்டும். இவ்வாறு செய்வது உங்களை மட்டுமே பாதிக்கும்.”

வேற்றுத் தெய்வங்களைப் பின்பற்றி, அவற்றுக்கு ஊழியம் செய்து வழிபடாமலும், உங்கள் கைவேலைப்பாடுகளால் எனக்குச் சினமூட்டாமலும் இருந்தால், நான் உங்களுக்குத் தீங்கிழைக்க மாட்டேன்.
