எந்த ஜாதியாவது, எந்த ராஜ்யமாவது பாபிலோன் ராஜாவாகிய நேபுகாத்நேச்சார் என்பவனைச் சேவியாமலும், தன் கழுத்தைப் பாபிலோன் ராஜாவின் நுகத்துக்குக் கீழ்ப்படுத்தாமலும்போனால், அந்த ஜாதியை நான் அவன் கையாலே நிர்மூலமாக்குமளவும், பட்டயத்தாலும் பஞ்சத்தாலும் கொள்ளைநோயாலும் தண்டிப்பேன் என்று கர்த்தர் சொல்லுகிறார்.

எந்த தேசமாவது, எந்த ராஜ்யமாவது பாபிலோன் ராஜாவாகிய நேபுகாத்நேச்சார் என்பவனைச் சேவியாமலும், தன் கழுத்தைப் பாபிலோன் ராஜாவின் நுகத்திற்குக் கீழ்ப்படுத்தாமலும்போனால், அந்தத் தேசத்தை நான் அவன் கையால் அழிக்கும்வரை, பட்டயத்தாலும், பஞ்சத்தாலும், கொள்ளைநோயாலும் தண்டிப்பேன் என்று கர்த்தர் சொல்லுகிறார்.

“‘ஆனால், இப்பொழுது சில நாடுகளும் இராஜ்யங்களும் பாபிலோன் அரசனான நேபுகாத்நேச்சாருக்கு சேவைசெய்ய மறுக்கிறது. அவர்கள் நுகங்களைத் தம் கழுத்தில் மாட்டிக்கொள்ள மறுக்கலாம். அது நிகழந்தால், நான் செய்வது இதுதான். அந்த நாட்டை நான் பட்டயம், பசி மற்றும் பயங்கரமான நோயால் தண்டிப்பேன்’” இந்த வார்த்தை கர்த்தரிடமிருந்து வருகிறது. “நான் அந்த நாட்டை அழித்து முடிக்கும்வரை இதனைச் செய்வேன். நேபுகாத்நேச்சாருக்கு எதிராகச் சண்டையிட்ட நாடுகளை அழிக்க நான் அவனைப் பயன்படுத்துவேன்.

ஆனால் பாபிலோனிய மன்னனான நெபுகத்னேசருக்கு அடிபணிந்து, அவனது நுகத்தைத் தனது கழுத்தில் ஏற்க மனமில்லாத மக்களினத்தையோ அரசையோ — அவனுடைய கையில் அவற்றை நான் ஒப்புவிக்கும்வரை — வாள், பஞ்சம், கொள்ளைநோய் ஆகியவற்றால் தண்டிப்பேன், என்கிறார் ஆண்டவர்.⒫

And it shall come to pass, that the nation and kingdom which will not serve the same Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, and that will not put their neck under the yoke of the king of Babylon, that nation will I punish, saith the LORD, with the sword, and with the famine, and with the pestilence, until I have consumed them by his hand.
