கர்த்தராகிய ஆண்டவரே, நகரம் கல்தேயரின் கையிலே கொடுக்கப்படுகிறதாயிருந்தும், தேவரீர் என்னை நோக்கி: நீ உனக்கு ஒரு நிலத்தை விலைக்கிரயமாகக்கொண்டு, அதற்குச் சாட்சிகளை வையென்று சொன்னீரே என்றேன்.

“எனது கர்த்தராகிய ஆண்டவரே, அத்தீயச் செயல்கள் எல்லாம் நடந்துக்கொண்டிருக்கின்றன. ஆனால் நீர் இப்பொழுது, ‘எரேமியா, வெள்ளியால் வயலை வாங்கு, வாங்கும்போது சிலரைச் சாட்சியாக வைத்துக்கொள்’ என்று சொல்கிறீர். பாபிலோனியர் படை இந்நகரைக் கைப்பற்ற தயாராக இருக்கும்போது நீர் எனக்குச் சொல்லிக்கொண்டிருக்கிறீர். இவ்வாறு எனது பணத்தை நான் ஏன் வீணாக்க வேண்டும்?”

ஓ! தலைவராகிய ஆண்டவரே, நீர் என்னைப் பார்த்து, ‘வெள்ளியை விலையாகக் கொடுத்து உனக்கு நிலத்தை வாங்கிக் கொள்; அதற்குச் சாட்சிகளையும் வைத்துக் கொள்’ என்று சொல்கிறீரே! ஆனால் நகர் கல்தேயரின் கையில் ஏற்கெனவே வீழ்ந்து விட்டதே!”⒫
