ஏனென்றால், இதோ, இந்த நகரத்தைப் பாபிலோன் ராஜாவின் கையில் ஒப்புக்கொடுக்கிறேன்; அவன் இதைப்பிடிப்பான் என்று கர்த்தர் சொல்லுகிறாரென்றும்,

யூதா அரசனான சிதேக்கியா அந்த அரண்மனையின் சிறையில் எரேமியாவை வைத்தான். சிதேக்கியா எரேமியாவின் தீர்க்கதரிசனத்தை விரும்பவில்லை. எரேமியா சொல்லுகிறதாவது, “கர்த்தர் கூறுகிறார்: ‘நான் விரைவில் பாபிலோன் அரசனிடம் எருசலேம் நகரத்தைக் கொடுப்பேன். நேபுகாத்நேச்சார் இந்நகரத்தைக் கைப்பற்றுவான்.
