“இதுதான் கர்த்தர் சொல்கிறது: ‘எருசலேமில் வாழ்கிற ஒவ்வொருவரும் வாள் அல்லது பசி அல்லது பயங்கரமான நோயால் மரிப்பார்கள். ஆனால் பாபிலோனியப் படையிடம் சரண் அடைபவர்கள் பிழைத்துக்கொள்வார்கள். அந்த ஜனங்கள் தாம் உயிரோடு தப்பித்துக்கொள்வார்கள்.’

ஆண்டவர் இவ்வாறு கூறுகிறார்; இந்நகரில் தங்கியிருப்பவன் வாள், பஞ்சம், கொள்ளை நோய் ஆகியவற்றால் மடிவான். கல்தேயர் பக்கம் தப்பிச் செல்பவனோ பிழைத்துக்கொள்வான். அவன் உயிரே அவனுக்குக் கிடைத்த கொள்ளைப்பொருளாய் இருக்கும். அவன் உயிர் பிழைப்பான்.

Thus saith the LORD, He that remaineth in this city shall die by the sword, by the famine, and by the pestilence: but he that goeth forth to the Chaldeans shall live; for he shall have his life for a prey, and shall live.

எரேமியா 34:17

ஆகையால் கர்த்தர் சொல்லுகிறது என்னவென்றால், நீங்கள் அவனவன் தன் சகோதரனுக்கும் அவனவன் தன் அயலானுக்கும் விடுதலையைக் கூறினவிஷயத்தில் என் சொல்லைக் கேளாமற்போனீர்களே; இதோ நான் உங்களைப் பட்டயத்துக்கும், கொள்ளைநோய்க்கும், பஞ்சத்துக்கும் ஒப்புக்கொடுக்கிற விடுதலையை உங்களுக்குக் கூறுகிறேன்; பூமியின் ராஜ்யங்களிலெல்லாம் அலைகிறதற்கும் உங்களை ஒப்புக்கொடுப்பேன் என்று கர்த்தர் சொல்லுகிறார்.

எரேமியா 39:18

உன்னை நிச்சயமாக விடுவிப்பேன், நீ பட்டயத்துக்கு இரையாவதில்லை; நீ என்னை நம்பினபடியினால் உன் பிராணன் உனக்குக் கிடைத்த கொள்ளைப்பொருளைப்போல இருக்குமென்று கர்த்தர் சொல்லுகிறார் என்றார்.

எரேமியா 45:5

நீ உனக்குப் பெரிய காரியங்களைத் தேடுகிறாயோ? தேடாதே; இதோ, மாம்சமான யாவர்மேலும் தீங்கை வரப்பண்ணுகிறேன் என்று கர்த்தர் சொல்லுகிறார்; ஆனாலும், நீ போகும் சகல ஸ்தலங்களிலும் உன் பிராணனை உனக்குக் கிடைக்கும் கொள்ளைப்பொருளாகத் தருகிறேன் என்று கர்த்தர் சொல்லுகிறார் என்று அவனுடனே சொல் என்றார்.

எரேமியா 42:17

எகிப்திலே தங்கவேண்டுமென்று அவ்விடத்துக்குத் தங்கள் முகங்களைத் திருப்பின எல்லா மனுஷருக்கும் என்ன சம்பவிக்குமென்றால், பட்டயத்தாலும், பஞ்சத்தாலும், கொள்ளைநோயாலும் சாவார்கள்; நான் அவர்கள்மேல் வரப்பண்ணும் தீங்கினாலே அவர்களில் மீதியாகிறவர்களும் தப்புகிறவர்களுமில்லை என்று இஸ்ரவேலின் தேவனாகிய சேனைகளின் கர்த்தர் சொல்லுகிறார்.

பின்னையும் அவர், இந்த ஜனங்களை நோக்கி: இதோ, நான் உங்கள் முன்னே ஜீவவழியையும் மரணவழியையும் வைக்கிறேன் என்று கர்த்தர் சொல்லுகிறார்.

எரேமியா 29:18

அப்பொழுது எரேமியா சிதேக்கியாவை நோக்கி: நீர் பாபிலோன் ராஜாவின் பிரபுக்களண்டைக்குப் புறப்பட்டுப்போவீரானால், உம்முடைய ஆத்துமா உயிரோடிருக்கும்; இந்தப் பட்டணம் அக்கினியால் சுட்டெரிக்கப்படுவதில்லை; நீரும் உம்முடைய குடும்பமும் உயிரோடிருப்பீர்கள்.

எரேமியா 42:22

இப்போதும் தங்கியிருப்பதற்கு நீங்கள் போக விரும்புகிற ஸ்தலத்தில் தானே பட்டயத்தாலும் பஞ்சத்தாலும், கொள்ளைநோயாலும் சாவீர்களென்று நிச்சயமாய் அறியுங்கள் என்றான்.

நான் எருசலேமை தண்டித்தபடி எகிப்துதேசத்தில் குடியிருக்கிறவர்களையும் பட்டயத்தாலும் பஞ்சத்தாலும், கொள்ளைநோயாலும் தண்டிப்பேன்.
