ஆகையால் நான் கர்த்தருடைய உக்கிரத்தால் நிறைந்திருக்கிறேன்; அதை அடக்கி இளைத்துப்போனேன்; வீதிகளிலுள்ள பிள்ளைகளின்மேலும், வாலிபருடைய கூட்டத்தின்மேலும் ஏகமாய் அதை ஊற்றிவிடுவேன்; புருஷரும், ஸ்திரீகளும், கிழவரும், பூரணவயதுள்ளவர்களுங்கூடப் பிடிக்கப்படுவார்கள்.

ஆகையால் நான் கர்த்தருடைய கடுங்கோபத்தால் நிறைந்திருக்கிறேன்; அதை அடக்கி இளைத்துப்போனேன்; வீதிகளிலுள்ள பிள்ளைகளின்மேலும், வாலிபருடைய கூட்டத்தின்மேலெங்கும் அதை ஊற்றிவிடுவேன்; ஆண்களும், பெண்களும், முதியவர்களும், மிக வயதானவர்களுங்கூடப் பிடிக்கப்படுவார்கள்.

ஆனால் நான், (எரேமியா) கர்த்தருடைய கோபத்தால் முழுமையாக நிறைந்திருக்கிறேன்! நான் அதனைத் தாங்குவதில் சோர்ந்துபோனேன். “தெருவில் விளையாடிக்கொண்டிருக்கும் பிள்ளைகள் மீது கர்த்தருடைய கோபத்தை ஊற்றுங்கள். கூடுகின்ற இளைஞர் மேல் கர்த்தருடைய கோபத்தை ஊற்றுங்கள். ஒரு ஆணும் அவனது மனைவியும் சேர்த்து கைபற்றப்படுவார்கள். வயதான ஜனங்கள் அனைவரும் கைபற்றப்படுவார்கள்.

⁽ஆண்டவரின் சீற்றம்␢ என்னில் நிறைந்துள்ளது;␢ அதனை அடக்கிச் சோர்ந்து போனேன்;␢ ஆண்டவர் கூறுவது;␢ தெருவில் இருக்கும் சிறுவர்கள்மேலும்␢ ஒன்றாய்க் கூடியுள்ள இளைஞர்கள் மேலும்␢ சினத்தைக் கொட்டு.␢ கணவனும் மனைவியும்,␢ முதியோரும் வயது நிறைந்தோரும் பிடிபடுவர்.⁾

Therefore I am full of the fury of the LORD; I am weary with holding in: I will pour it out upon the children abroad, and upon the assembly of young men together: for even the husband with the wife shall be taken, the aged with him that is full of days.
