அவர்கள் எனக்கா மனமடிவுண்டாக்குகிறார்கள்? தங்கள் முகங்கள் வெட்கத்துக்குட்படும்படி அவர்கள் தங்களுக்கே அல்லவோ மனமடிவுண்டாக்குகிறார்கள் என்று கர்த்தர் சொல்லுகிறார்.

நாம் கர்த்தருக்கு எரிச்சலை மூட்டலாமா? அவரிலும் நாம் பலவான்களா?

அந்நிய தேவர்களால் அவருக்கு எரிச்சலை மூட்டினார்கள்; அருவருப்பானவைகளினால் அவரைக் கோபப்படுத்தினார்கள்.

தெய்வம் அல்லாதவைகளில் எனக்கு எரிச்சலை மூட்டி, தங்கள் மாயைகளினால் என்னைக் கோபப்படுத்தினார்கள்; ஆகையால் மதிக்கப்படாத ஜனங்களினால் அவர்களுக்கு எரிச்சலை உண்டாக்கி, மதிகெட்ட ஜாதியினால் அவர்களைக் கோபப்படுத்துவேன்.

எங்கள் பிதாக்களின் நாட்கள்முதல் இந்நாள்மட்டும் நாங்கள் பெரிய குற்றத்துக்கு உள்ளாயிருக்கிறோம், எங்கள் அக்கிரமங்களினிமித்தம் நாங்களும், எங்கள் ராஜாக்களும், எங்கள் ஆசாரியர்களும், இந்நாளிலிருக்கிறதுபோல, அந்நியதேச ராஜாக்களின் கையிலே, பட்டயத்துக்கும், சிறையிருப்புக்கும், கொள்ளைக்கும், வெட்கத்துக்கும் ஒப்புக்கொடுக்கப்பட்டோம்.

நீர் பாவஞ்செய்தால் அதினாலே அவருக்கு என்ன நஷ்டம்? உம்முடைய மீறுதல்கள் மிகுதியானாலும், அதினாலே அவருக்கு என்ன சேதம்?

மாட்டோம் என்று எதிர்த்துநிற்பீர்களாகில் பட்டயத்துக்கு இரையாவீர்கள்; கர்த்தரின் வாய் இதைச் சொல்லிற்று.

ஆகையால் சேனையின் கர்த்தரும் இஸ்ரவேலின் வல்லவருமாகிய ஆண்டவர் சொல்லுகிறதாவது: ஓகோ நான் என் சத்துருக்களில் கோபம் ஆறி, என் பகைஞருக்கு நீதியைச் சரிக்கட்டுவேன்.

விக்கிரகங்களை உண்டுபண்ணுகிற அனைவரும் வெட்கப்பட்டு இலச்சையடைந்து ஏகமாய்க் கலங்கிப்போவார்கள்.

உன் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் உன்னை வழியிலே நடத்திக்கொண்டுபோகுங்காலத்தில், நீ அவரை விட்டுப்போகிறதினால் அல்லவோ உனக்கு நேரிடப்பண்ணினாய்?

உன் தீமை உன்னைத் தண்டிக்கும், உன் மாறுபாடுகள் உன்னைக் கண்டிக்கும்; நீ உன் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தரை விடுகிறதும், என்னைப் பற்றும் பயம் உன்னிடத்தில் இல்லாமலிருக்கிறதும், எத்தனை பொல்லாப்பும் கசப்புமான காரியம் என்று உணர்ந்துகொள் என்று சேனைகளின் கர்த்தராகிய ஆண்டவர் சொல்லுகிறார்.

எத்தனையாய்ப் பாழாக்கப்பட்டோம்! மிகவும் கலங்கியிருக்கிறோம்; நாங்கள் தேசத்தை விட்டுப்போகிறோம், எங்கள் வாசஸ்தலங்களை அவர்கள் கவிழ்த்துப்போட்டார்கள் என்று சீயோனிலிருந்து உண்டாகிற புலம்பலின் சத்தம் கேட்கப்படும்.

கர்த்தரோ பயங்கரமான பராக்கிரமசாலியாய் என்னோடு இருக்கிறார், ஆகையால் என்னைத் துன்பப்படுத்துகிறவர்கள் மேற்கொள்ளாமல் இடறுவார்கள்; தங்கள் காரியம் வாய்க்காதபடியால் மிகவும் வெட்கப்படுவார்கள்; மறக்கப்படாத நித்திய இலச்சை அவர்களுக்கு உண்டாகும்.

அப்பொழுது அவர் என்னை நோக்கி: மனுபுத்திரனே, இதைக் கண்டாயா? இங்கே யூதா வம்சத்தார் செய்கிற அருவருப்புகள் அற்பமான காரியமா? அவர்கள் தேசத்தைக் கொடுமையினால் நிரப்பி என்னை அடிக்கடி கோபமூட்டுகிறார்கள்; இதோ, அவர்கள் திராட்சக்கிளையைத் தங்கள் நாசிக்கு நேராகப் பிடிக்கிறார்கள்.

ஆண்டவரே, நீதி உமக்கே உரியது; உமக்கு விரோதமாகச் செய்த துரோகத்தினிமித்தம் உம்மாலே சமீபமும் தூரமுமான எல்லா தேசங்களிலும் துரத்தப்பட்டிருக்கிற யூதமனுஷரும் எருசலேமின் குடிகளும் சகல இஸ்ரவேலருமாகிய நாங்கள் இந்நாளில் இருக்கிறபடியே, வெட்கம் எங்களுக்கே உரியது.
