ஜாதிகள் தாங்கள் வெட்டின குழியில் தாங்களே விழுந்தார்கள்; அவர்கள் மறைவாய் வைத்த வலையில் அவர்களுடைய காலே அகப்பட்டுக்கொண்டது.

தம்முடைய புயத்தினாலே பராக்கிரமஞ்செய்தார்; இருதயசிந்தையில் அகந்தையுள்ளவர்களைச் சிதறடித்தார்.

அந்தப்படி: ஞானிகளுடைய ஞானத்தை நான் அழித்து, புத்திசாலிகளுடைய புத்தியை அவமாக்குவேனென்று எழுதியிருக்கிறது.

இவ்வுலகத்தின் ஞானம் தேவனுக்கு முன்பாகப் பைத்தியமாயிருக்கிறது. அப்படியே, ஞானிகளை அவர்களுடைய தந்திரத்திலே பிடிக்கிறாரென்றும்,

அப்சலோமோடே கட்டுப்பாடுபண்ணினவர்களுடன் அகித்தோப்பேலும் சேர்ந்திருக்கிறான் என்று தாவீதுக்கு அறிவிக்கப்பட்டபோது, தாவீது, கர்த்தாவே, அகித்தோப்பேலின் ஆலோசனையைப் பயித்தியமாக்கிவிடுவீராக என்றான்.

நீ நகரத்திற்குத் திரும்பிப்போய், அப்சலோமை நோக்கி: ராஜாவே, உம்முடைய ஊழியக்காரனாயிருப்பேன்; முன்பு நான் உம்முடைய தகப்பனுக்கு ஊழியக்காரனாயிருந்தேன்; இப்போது நான் உமக்கு ஊழியக்காரன் என்றாயேயாகில், எனக்காக அகித்தோப்பேலின் ஆலோசனையை அபத்தமாக்குவாய்.

அகித்தோப்பேல் தன் யோசனையின்படி நடக்கவில்லை என்று கண்டபோது, தன் கழுதையின்மேல் சேணம் வைத்து ஏறி, தன் ஊரிலிருக்கிற தன் வீட்டுக்குப்போய், தன் வீட்டுக்காரியங்களை ஒழுங்குபடுத்தி, நான்றுகொண்டு செத்தான்; அவன் தகப்பன் கல்லறையில் அவனை அடக்கம்பண்ணினார்கள்.

ஆமான் தான் செய்த தூக்குமரத்திலே மொர்தெகாயைத் தூக்கிப்போடவேண்டுமென்று, ராஜாவிடத்தில் பேசும்படி ராஜ அரமனையின் வெளிமுற்றத்திலே வந்திருந்தான். அப்பொழுது ராஜா: முற்றத்திலிருக்கிறது யார் என்று கேட்டான்.

அப்படியே ஆமான் மொர்தெகாய்க்கு ஆயத்தம்பண்ணின தூக்குமரத்தில் ஆமானையே தூக்கிப்போட்டார்கள்; அப்பொழுது ராஜாவின் உக்கிரம் தணிந்தது.

ஆனாலும் எஸ்தர், ராஜசமுகத்தில்போய், யூதருக்கு விரோதமாய் அவன் நினைத்த அவனுடைய பொல்லாத யோசனை அவனுடைய தலையின்மேல் திரும்பும்படி கட்டளை பிறப்பித்ததினாலே, அவனையும் அவன் குமாரரையும் மரத்திலே தூக்கிப்போட்டார்கள்.

குழியை வெட்டி, அதை ஆழமாக்கினான்; தான் வெட்டின குழியில் தானே விழுந்தான்.

புனிதனுக்கு நீர் புனிதராகவும், மாறுபாடுள்ளவனுக்கு நீர் மாறுபடுகிறவராகவும் தோன்றுவீர்.

முகாந்தரமில்லாமல் எனக்காகத் தங்கள் வலையைக் குழியில் ஒளித்து வைத்தார்கள்; முகாந்தரமில்லாமல் என் ஆத்துமாவுக்குப் படுகுழி வெட்டினார்கள்.

மாறுபாடுள்ளவன் கர்த்தருக்கு அருவருப்பானவன்; நீதிமான்களோடே அவருடைய இரகசியம் இருக்கிறது.
