அப்பொழுது அவருடைய சீஷரில் சிலர்: நான் பிதாவினிடத்திற்குப் போகிறபடியினால், கொஞ்சக்காலத்திலே என்னைக் காணாதிருப்பீர்கள் என்றும், மறுபடியும் கொஞ்சக்காலத்திலே என்னைக் காண்பீர்கள் என்றும் அவர் நம்முடனே சொல்லுகிறதின் கருத்தென்ன என்று தங்களுக்குள்ளே பேசிக்கொண்டதுமன்றி;

இயேசுவின் சீஷர்களில் சிலர் ஒருவருக்கொருவர், “‘கொஞ்ச காலத்திற்குப்பின் பார்க்கமுடியாது. கொஞ்ச காலத்திற்குப் பிறகு நீங்கள் என்னை மீண்டும் பார்க்கலாம்’ என்றாரே, இயேசு எதைக் கருதி இவ்வாறு கூறுகிறார். ‘நான் பிதாவிடம் போகிறேன்’ என்று ஏன் கூறுகிறார்.

அப்போது அவருடைய சீடருள் சிலர், “‘இன்னும் சிறிது காலத்தில் நீங்கள் என்னைக் காணமாட்டீர்கள்; மீண்டும் சிறிது காலத்தில் என்னைக் காண்பீர்கள்’ என்றும் ‘நான் தந்தையிடம் செல்கிறேன்’ என்றும் சொல்லுவதன் பொருள் என்ன?” என்று தங்களிடையே பேசிக்கொண்டனர்.
