அவர்கள் என்னை அனுப்பினவரை அறியாதபடியினால் என் நாமத்தினிமித்தமே இவைகளையெல்லாம் உங்களுக்குச் செய்வார்கள்.

நீதியுள்ள பிதாவே, உலகம் உம்மை அறியவில்லை, நான் உம்மை அறிந்திருக்கிறேன்; நீர் என்னை அனுப்பினதை இவர்களும் அறிந்திருக்கிறார்கள்.

அப்பொழுது அவர்கள்: உம்முடைய பிதா எங்கே என்றார்கள். இயேசு பிரதியுத்தரமாக: என்னையும் அறியீர்கள், என் பிதாவையும் அறியீர்கள்; நீங்கள் என்னை அறிந்தீர்களானால் என் பிதாவையும் அறிவீர்கள் என்றார்.

ஆயினும் நீங்கள் அவரை அறியவில்லை, நான் அவரை அறிந்திருக்கிறேன்; அவரை அறியேன் என்று சொல்வேனாகில் உங்களைப்போல நானும் பொய்யனாருப்பேன்; அவரை நான் அறிந்து, அவருடைய வார்த்தையைக் கைக்கொண்டிருக்கிறேன்.

நாம் தேவனுடைய பிள்ளைகளென்று அழைக்கப்படுவதினாலே பிதாவானவர் நமக்குப் பாராட்டின அன்பு எவ்வளவு பெரிதென்று பாருங்கள்; உலகம் அவரை அறியாதபடியினாலே நம்மையும் அறியவில்லை.

சகலமும் என் பிதாவினால் எனக்கு ஒப்புக்கொடுக்கப்பட்டிருக்கிறது; பிதா தவிர வேறொருவனும் குமாரன் இன்னாரென்று அறியான், குமாரனும், குமாரன் அவரை எவனுக்கு வெளிப்படுத்தச் சித்தமாயிருக்கிறாரோ அவனுந்தவிர, வேறொருவனும் பிதா இன்னாரென்று அறியான் என்றார்.

என்னைப் பகைக்கிறவன் என் பிதாவையும் பகைக்கிறான்.

ஒன்றான மெய்த்தேவனாகிய உம்மையும் நீர் அனுப்பினவராகிய இயேசுகிறிஸ்துவையும் அறிவதே நித்தியஜீவன்.

அதை இப்பிரபஞ்சத்துப் பிரபுக்களில் ஒருவனும் அறியவில்லை; அறிந்தார்களானால், மகிமையின் கர்த்தரை அவர்கள் சிலுவையில் அறையமாட்டார்களே.

எங்கள் சுவிசேஷம் மறைபொருளாயிருந்தால், கெட்டுப்போகிறவர்களுக்கு அது மறைபொருளாயிருக்கும்.

கர்த்தராகிய இயேசு தமது வல்லமையின் தூதரோடும், ஜுவாலித்து எரிகிற அக்கினியோடும், வானத்திலிருந்து வெளிப்படும்போது அப்படியாகும்.

கெட்டுப்போகிறவர்களுக்குள்ளே அநீதியினால் உண்டாகும் சகலவித வஞ்சகத்தோடும் இருக்கும் இரட்சிக்கப்படத்தக்கதாக சத்தியத்தின்மேலுள்ள அன்பை அவர்கள் அங்கிகரியாமற்போனபடியால் அப்படி நடக்கும்.

முன்னே நான் தூஷிக்கிறவனும், துன்பப்படுத்துகிறவனும், கொடுமை செய்கிறவனுமாயிருந்தேன்; அப்படியிருந்தும், நான் அறியாமல் அவிசுவாசத்தினாலே அப்படிச்செய்தபடியினால் இரக்கம்பெற்றேன்.

அன்பில்லாதவன் தேவனை அறியான், தேவன் அன்பாகவே இருக்கிறார்.

அன்றியும், நாம் சத்தியமுள்ளவரை அறிந்துகொள்வதற்கு தேவனுடைய குமாரன் வந்து நமக்குப் புத்தியைத் தந்திருக்கிறாரென்றும் அறிவோம்; அவருடைய குமாரனாகிய இயேசுகிறிஸ்து என்னப்பட்ட சத்தியமுள்ளவருக்குள்ளும் இருக்கிறோம்; இவரே மெய்யான தேவனும் நித்தியஜீவனுமாயிருக்கிறார்.
