அவர்கள் திருப்திடைந்தபின்பு, அவர் தம்முடைய சீஷர்களை நோக்கி: ஒன்றும் சேதமாய்ப் போகாதபடிக்கு மீதியான துணிக்கைகளைச் சேர்த்துவையுங்கள் என்றார்.

அனைத்து மக்களும் வேண்டிய மட்டும் உண்டனர். அவர்கள் உண்டு முடித்ததும் இயேசு தன் சீஷர்களிடம் “உண்ணப்படாத அப்பத்துண்டுகளையும் மீன் துண்டுகளையும் சேகரியுங்கள். எதையும் வீணாக்க வேண்டாம்” என்றார்.
