என் வசனத்தைக் கேட்டு, என்னை அனுப்பினவரை விசுவாசிக்கிறவனுக்கு நித்தியஜீவன் உண்டு; அவன் ஆக்கினைத்தீர்ப்புக்குட்படாமல், மரணத்தைவிட்டு நீங்கி, ஜீவனுக்குட்பட்டிருக்கிறான் என்று மெய்யாகவே மெய்யாகவே உங்களுக்குச் சொல்லுகிறேன்.

ஆவியே உயிர்ப்பிக்கிறது, மாம்சமானது ஒன்றுக்கும் உதவாது; நான் உங்களுக்குச் சொல்லுகிற வசனங்கள் ஆவியாயும் ஜீவனாயும் இருக்கிறது.

பரலோகத்தில் உம்மையல்லாமல் எனக்கு யார் உண்டு? பூலோகத்தில் உம்மைத் தவிர எனக்கு வேறே விருப்பமில்லை.

வேதவாக்கியங்களை ஆராய்ந்துபாருங்கள்; அவைகளால் உங்களுக்கு நித்தியஜீவன் உண்டென்று எண்ணுகிறீர்களே, என்னைக்குறித்துச் சாட்சிகொடுக்கிறவைகளும் அவைகளே.

குமாரனைக் கண்டு, அவரிடத்தில் விசுவாசமாயிருக்கிறவன் எவனோ அவன், நித்தியஜீவனை அடைவதும், நான் அவனைக் கடைசிநாளில் எழுப்புவதும், என்னை அனுப்பினவருடைய சித்தமாயிருக்கிறது என்றார்.

அவராலேயன்றி வேறொருவராலும் இரட்சிப்பு இல்லை; நாம் இரட்சிக்கப்படும்படிக்கு வானத்தின் கீழெங்கும், மனுஷர்களுக்குள்ளே அவருடைய நாமமேயல்லாமல் வேறொரு நாமம் கட்டளையிடப்படவும் இல்லை என்றான்.
