யோனாவுடைய தலையின்மேல் நிழலுண்டாயிருக்கவும், அவனை அவனுடைய மனமடிவுக்கு நீங்கலாக்கவும் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் ஒரு ஆமணக்குச்செடியை முளைக்கக் கட்டளையிட்டு, அதை அவன்மேல் ஓங்கிவளரப்பண்ணினார்; அந்த ஆமணக்கின்மேல் யோனா மிகவும் சந்தோஷப்பட்டான்.

யோனாவுடைய தலையின்மேல் நிழலுண்டாயிருக்கவும், அவனை அவனுடைய மனவருத்தத்திற்கு நீங்கலாக்கவும் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் ஒரு ஆமணக்குச்செடியை முளைக்கக் கட்டளையிட்டு, அதை அவன்மேல் ஓங்கி வளரச்செய்தார்; அந்த ஆமணக்குச் செடியினால் யோனா மிகவும் சந்தோஷப்பட்டான்.

கர்த்தர் ஒரு ஆமணக்குச் செடியை யோனாவுக்கு மேல் வேகமாக வளரச் செய்தார். இது யோனா உட்காருவதற்குரிய நல்ல குளிர்ந்த நிழலைத் தந்தது. இது யோனவிற்கு மேலும் வசதியாக இருக்க உதவியது. யோனா அந்தச் செடிக்காக மிகவும் மகிழ்ச்சியடைந்தான்.

திருவிவிலியம்
கடவுளாகிய ஆண்டவரது ஏற்பாட்டின்படி ஆமணக்குச் செடி ஒன்று அங்கே முளைத்தது. அது வளர்ந்து யோனாவின் தலைக்கு நிழல் தந்து அவரது மனச்சோர்வை நீக்கியது. அந்த ஆமணக்குச் செடியைக் கண்டு யோனா மிகுந்த மகிழ்ச்சி அடைந்தார்.⒫

And the LORD God prepared a gourd, and made it to come up over Jonah, that it might be a shadow over his head, to deliver him from his grief. So Jonah was exceeding glad of the gourd.

And Jehovah God prepared a gourd, and made it to come up over Jonah, that it might be a shade over his head, to deliver him from his evil case. So Jonah was exceeding glad because of the gourd.
