மீதியானியரின் கை இஸ்ரவேலின் மேல்பலத்துக்கொண்டபடியால், இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரர் மீதியானியர் நிமித்தம் தங்களுக்கு மலைகளிலுள்ள கெபிகளையும் குகைகளையும் அரணான ஸ்தலங்களையும் அடைக்கலங்களாக்கிக்கொண்டார்கள்.

அப்பொழுது இஸ்ரவேலர் தங்களுக்கு உண்டான இக்கட்டைக் கண்டபோது, ஜனங்கள் தங்களுக்கு உண்டான நெருக்கத்தினாலே கெபிகளிலும், முட்காடுகளிலும், கன்மலைகளிலும், துருக்கங்களிலும், குகைகளிலும் ஒளித்துக்கொண்டார்கள்

வழியோரத்திலிருக்கிற ஆட்டுத்தொழுவங்களிடத்தில் அவன் வந்தபோது, அங்கே ஒரு கெபி இருந்தது; அதிலே சவுல் மலஜலாதிக்குப் போனான்; தாவீதும் அவன் மனுஷரும் அந்தக் கெபியின் பக்கங்களில் உட்கார்ந்திருந்தார்கள்.

அப்பொழுது தாவீதும் எழுந்து, கெபியிலிருந்து புறப்பட்டு, சவுலுக்குப் பின்னாகப் போய்; ராஜாவாகிய என் ஆண்டவனே என்று கூப்பிட்டான்; சவுல் திரும்பிப் பார்த்தபோது, தாவீது தரைமட்டும் முகங்குனிந்து வணங்கி,

இதோ, ராஜாக்கள் கூடிக்கொண்டு, ஏகமாய்க் கடந்துவந்தார்கள்.

உம்முடைய ஆவிக்கு மறைவாக எங்கே போவேன்? உம்முடைய சமுகத்தை விட்டு எங்கே ஓடுவேன்?

கர்த்தரின் பயங்கரத்துக்கும், அவருடைய மகிமைப்பிரதாபத்திற்கும் விலகி, நீ கன்மலையில் ஒதுங்கி, மண்ணில் ஒளித்துக்கொள்.

பூமியைத் தத்தளிக்கப்பண்ணக் கர்த்தர் எழும்பும்போது, அவருடைய பயங்கரத்திற்கும், அவருடைய மகிமைப்பிரதாபத்திற்கும் விலகி, கன்மலைகளின் கெபிகளிலும் பூமியின் குகைகளிலும் புகுந்துகொள்வார்கள்.

அக்காலத்தில் கர்த்தர் உன்னதமான சேனையை உன்னதத்திலும், பூமியின் ராஜாக்களைப் பூமியிலும் விசாரிப்பார்.

அவர்கள் பாதாளபரியந்தம் தோண்டிப் பதுங்கிக்கொண்டாலும், என் கை அவ்விடத்திலிருந்து அவர்களைப் பிடித்துக்கொண்டுவரும்; அவர்கள் வானபரியந்தம் ஏறினாலும் அவ்விடத்திலுமிருந்து அவர்களை இறங்கப்பண்ணுவேன்;

பாம்பைப்போல மண்ணை நக்குவார்கள்; பூமியின் ஊர்வனவற்றைப்போலத் தங்கள் மறைவிடங்களிலிருந்து நடுநடுங்கிப் புறப்படுவார்கள்; நமது தேவனாகிய கர்த்தரிடத்திற்குத் திகிலோடே சேர்ந்து, உனக்குப் பயப்படுவார்கள்.

பூமியின் ராஜாக்களும், பெரியோர்களும், ஐசுவரியவான்களும், சேனைத்தலைவர்களும், பலவான்களும், அடிமைகள் யாவரும், சுயாதீனர் யாவரும், பர்வதங்களின் குகைகளிலும் கன்மலைகளிலும் ஒளித்துக்கொண்டு,
