யோசுவா கில்காலிலிருந்து இராமுழுதும் நடந்து, திடீரென்று அவர்கள்மேல் வந்துவிட்டான்.

யோசுவாவும், அவனது படையும் கிபியோனுக்கு இரவு முழுவதும் அணிவகுத்துச் சென்றனர். யோசுவா வருவதைப் பகைவர்கள் அறியவில்லை. எனவே அவன் திடீரென்று தாக்கியபோது அவர்களுக்கு அதிர்ச்சியாக இருந்தது.
