சகல ஜனங்களும் யோர்தானைக்கடந்து தீருமளவும், கர்த்தருடைய உடன்படிக்கைப் பெட்டியைச் சுமக்கிற ஆசாரியர்கள் யோர்தானின் நடுவிலே தண்ணீரில்லாத தரையில் காலூன்றி நிற்கும்போது, இஸ்ரவேலரெல்லாரும் தண்ணீரற்ற உலர்ந்த தரைவழியாய்க் கடந்து போனார்கள்.

அவ்விடத்தில் நிலம் வறண்டது, ஆசாரியர் கர்த்தருடைய உடன்படிக்கைப் பெட்டியைச் சுமந்தவாறே நதியின் நடுப்பகுதிவரைக்கும் சென்று அங்கே நின்றனர். இஸ்ரவேல் ஜனங்கள் அனைவரும் யோர்தான் நதியை உலர்ந்த நிலத்தின் வழியாக கடக்கும் மட்டும் ஆசாரியர்கள் அங்கேயே நின்றனர்.

இஸ்ரயேலர் அனைவரும் கடந்து முடிக்கும்வரை, ஆண்டவரது உடன்படிக்கைப் பேழையைத் தூக்கிச் சென்ற குருக்கள் யோர்தான் நடுவே வறண்ட தரையில் நின்றனர். எல்லா இஸ்ரயேல் மக்களும் அவ்வறண்ட தரை வழியாக நடந்தனர்.
