அப்பொழுது யோசுவா தன் வஸ்திரங்களைக் கிழித்துக்கொண்டு, அவனும் இஸ்ரவேலின் மூப்பரும் சாயங்காலமட்டும் கர்த்தரின் பெட்டிக்கு முன்பாகத் தரையிலே முகங்குப்புற விழுந்து, தங்கள் தலைகளின்மேல் புளுதியைப் போட்டுக்கொண்டு கிடந்தார்கள்.

அப்பொழுது யோசுவா தன்னுடைய ஆடைகளைக் கிழித்துக்கொண்டு, அவனும் இஸ்ரவேலின் மூப்பர்களும் மாலைநேரம்வரைக்கும் கர்த்தரின் பெட்டிக்கு முன்பாகத் தரையிலே முகங்குப்புற விழுந்து, தங்களுடைய தலைகளின்மேல் புழுதியைப் போட்டுக்கொண்டு கிடந்தார்கள்.

யோசுவா இதைக் கேட்டபோது, துயரமுற்றுத் தன் ஆடைகளைக் கிழித்துக்கொண்டு, பரிசுத்தப் பெட்டிக்கு முன்பாக விழுந்து வணங்கினான். மாலைவரைக்கும் அங்கேயே இருந்தான். இஸ்ரவேலரின் தலைவர்களும் அவ்வாறே செய்தனர். அவர்கள் தங்கள் துயரத்தை வெளிப்படுத்துவதற்கு சாம்பலைத் தலையில் தூவிக்கொண்டனர்.

யோசுவா தம் ஆடைகளைக் கிழித்துக்கொள்ள, அவரும் அவருடன் இஸ்ரயேலின் முதியோரும் ஆண்டவரின் பேழைக்குமுன் மாலைவரை தரையில் முகம்குப்புற விழுந்து கிடந்தனர். தம் தலைமீது புழுதியைப் போட்டுக் கொண்டனர்.
