பட்டணத்துக்கு வடக்கே இருந்த சகல சேனையும் பட்டணத்திற்கு மேற்கே பதிவிருக்கிறவர்களையும் திட்டம்பண்ணினபின்பு, யோசுவா அன்று ராத்திரி பள்ளத்தாக்கிலே போயிருந்தான்.

பட்டணத்திற்கு வடக்கே இருந்த எல்லா சேனையையும் பட்டணத்திற்கு மேற்கே ஒளிந்திருக்கிறவர்களையும் ஒழுங்குசெய்தபின்பு, யோசுவா அன்று இரவு பள்ளத்தாக்கிற்குப் போயிருந்தான்.

யோசுவா அவனது ஆட்களைப் போருக்குத் தயாராக்கினான். நகரத்திற்கு வடக்கே பெரிய முகாம் இருந்தது. மற்ற ஆட்கள் மேற்கே மறைந்திருந்தனர். இரவில் யோசுவா பள்ளத்தாக்கினுள் இறங்கிச் சென்றான்.

மக்கள் நகருக்கு வடக்காகவும், பள்ளத்தாக்கிற்குக் கிழக்காகவும் இருந்த இடத்தில் பாளையம் இறங்கினார்கள். யோசுவா அவ்விரவைப் பள்ளத்தாக்கில் கழித்தார்.
