சிம்சோன் நடுராத்திரிமட்டும் படுத்திருந்து, நடுராத்திரியில் எழுந்து, பட்டணத்து வாசல் கதவுகளையும் அதின் இரண்டு நிலைகளையும் பிடித்து, தாழ்ப்பாளோடேகூடப் பேர்த்து, தன் தோளின் மேல் வைத்து, எபிரோனுக்கு எதிரேயிருக்கிற மலையின் உச்சிக்குச் சுமந்து கொண்டுபோனான்.

ஆனால் சிம்சோன் அவ்விலைமகளோடு நள்ளிரவுவரை மட்டுமே தங்கியிருந்தான். சிம்சோன் நள்ளிரவில் விழித்தெழுந்தான். சிம்சோன் நகரவாயில் கதவுகளை பிடித்து, மதிலிலிருந்து தளர்த்திப் பெயர்த்தெடுத்தான். சிம்சோன் கதவுகளையும், அவற்றின் இரண்டு தூண்களையும், கதவுகளை மூடும் இரும்புத் துண்டுகளையும் சேர்த்துத் தூக்கிக்கொண்டான். சிம்சோன் அதை தோளில் சுமந்துக்கொண்டு, எபிரோன் நகருக்கு அருகிலுள்ள மலையின்மீது ஏறினான்.

சிம்சோன் நடுச்சாமம் வரை படுத்துக்கிடந்தார். நள்ளிரவில் அவர் எழுந்து, நகர் வாயிலின் கதவுகளையும் இரண்டு கதவு நிலைகளையும் பிடித்து, அவைகளைக் குறுக்குச் சட்டங்களுடன் பிடுங்கினார். அவற்றைத் தம் தோள்களின்மீது வைத்துக் கொண்டு எபிரோனுக்கு எதிரில் இருந்த மலைக்குத் தூக்கிச் சென்றார்.
