நியாயாதிபதிகள் 21:7
மீந்திருப்பவர்களுக்கு மனைவிகள் கிடைக்கும்படி நாம் அவர்களுக்காக என்னசெய்யலாம்? நம்முடைய குமாரத்திகளில் ஒருத்தியையும் அவர்களுக்குக் கொடுப்பதில்லை என்று நாம் கர்த்தர் மேல் ஆணையிட்டுக்கொண்டோமே,

கர்த்தருக்கு முன் நாம் ஒரு வாக்குறுதி அளித்தோம். பென்யமீன் கோத்திரத்தைச் சார்ந்தவனை நமது பெண்கள் மணக்க அனுமதிப்பதில்லை என்றோம். பென்யமீன் ஆட்களுக்கு மனைவியர் கிடைப்பதற்கு நாம் என்ன செய்யலாம்?” என்றார்கள்.

நாம் நம் பெண்களை அவர்களுக்கு மணமுடித்துக் கொடுக்க மாட்டோம் என்று ஆண்டவர் பெயரால் ஆணையிட்டுக் கூறியுள்ளோம். அவர்களில் எஞ்சியிருப்போருக்கு மனைவியர் கிடைக்க நாம் என்ன செய்யலாம்” என்று தங்களுக்குள் கேட்டுக்கொண்டனர்.⒫
