பின்பு ஆரோனின் குமாரராகிய நாதாபும் அபியூவும் தன்தன் தூபகலசத்தை எடுத்து, அவைகளில் அக்கினியையும் அதின்மேல் தூபவர்க்கத்தையும் போட்டு, கர்த்தர் தங்களுக்குக் கட்டளையிடாத அந்நிய அக்கினியை அவருடைய சந்நிதியில் கொண்டுவந்தார்கள்.

பின் ஆரோனின் மகன்களாகிய நாதாபும் அபியூவும் பாவம் செய்தனர். ஒவ்வொருவனும் ஒரு நறுமண கலசத்தை எடுத்து, அதில் தேவன் அங்கீகரியாத நெருப்பைப் பயன்படுத்தி அதில் நறுமணப் பொருளைப் போட்டனர். மோசே கட்டளையிட்டுச் சொல்லியிருந்த நெருப்பை அவர்கள் பயன்படுத்தவில்லை.
