இயேசு தேவனுடைய குமாரனாகிய கிறிஸ்து என்று நீங்கள் விசுவாசிக்கும்படியாகவும், விசுவாசித்து அவருடைய நாமத்தினாலே நித்தியஜீவனை அடையும்படியாகவும், இவைகள் எழுதப்பட்டிருக்கிறது.

அவன் கர்த்தருடைய மார்க்கத்திலே உபதேசிக்கப்பட்டு, யோவான் கொடுத்த ஸ்நானத்தைமாத்திரம் அறிந்தவனாயிருந்து, ஆவியில் அனலுள்ளவனாய்க் கர்த்தருக்கு அடுத்தவைகளைத் திட்டமாய்ப் போதகம்பண்ணிக்கொண்டுவந்தான்.

நியாயப்பிரமாணத்தினால் உபதேசிக்கப்பட்டவனாய், அவருடைய சித்தத்தை அறிந்து, நன்மை தீமை இன்னதென்று வகையறுக்கிறாயே.

அப்படியிருந்தும், நான் சபையிலே அந்நியபாஷையில் பதினாயிரம் வார்த்தைகளைப் பேசுகிறதிலும், மற்றவர்களை உணர்த்தும்படி என் கருத்தோடே ஐந்து வார்த்தைகளைப் பேசுகிறதே எனக்கு அதிக விருப்பமாயிருக்கும்.

மேலும், திருவசனத்தில் உபதேசிக்கப்படுகிறவன் உபதேசிக்கிறவனுக்குச் சகல நன்மைகளிலும் பகிர்ந்து கொடுக்கக்கடவன்.
