தன் ஐசுவரியத்தை நம்புகிறவன் விழுவான்; நீதிமான்களோ துளிரைப்போலே தழைப்பார்கள்.

உன் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் உனக்குக் கொடுப்பேன் என்று ஆபிரகாம் ஈசாக்கு யாக்கோபு என்பவர்களாகிய உன் பிதாக்களுக்கு ஆணையிட்டுக் கொடுத்த தேசத்தில் உன்னைப் பிரவேசிக்கப்பண்ணும்போதும், நீ கட்டாத வசதியான பெரிய பட்டணங்களையும்,

உன் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தரை மறவாதபடிக்கும், நான் இன்று உனக்கு விதிக்கிற அவருடைய கற்பனைகளையும் நியாயங்களையும் கட்டளைகளையும் கைக்கொள்ளாமற்போகாதபடிக்கும் எச்சரிக்கையாயிரு.

துன்மார்க்கன் தன் உள்ளம் இச்சித்ததைப் பெற்றதினால் பெருமைபாராட்டி, பொருளை அபகரித்துத் தன்னைத்தான் போற்றி, கர்த்தரை அசட்டைபண்ணுகிறான்.

நரர் படும் வருத்தத்தில் அகப்படார்கள்; மனுஷர் அடையும் உபாதியை அடையார்கள்.

ஐசுவரியவானுடைய பொருள் அவனுக்கு அரணான பட்டணம்; அது அவன் எண்ணத்தில் உயர்ந்த மதில்போலிருக்கும்.

நான் பரிபூரணம் அடைகிறதினால் மறுதலித்து, கர்த்தர் யார் என்று சொல்லாதபடிக்கும்; தரித்திரப்படுகிறதினால் திருடி, என் தேவனுடைய நாமத்தை வீணிலே வழங்காதபடிக்கும், என் படியை எனக்கு அளந்து என்னைப்போஷித்தருளும்.

சந்ததியாரே, நீங்கள் கர்த்தருடைய வார்த்தையை சிந்தித்துப்பாருங்கள்; நான் இஸ்ரவேலுக்கு வனாந்தரமும், காரிருளான பூமியுமாக இருந்தேனோ? பின்னை ஏன் என் ஜனங்கள்; நாங்களே எஜமான்கள், இனி உம்மிடத்தில் நாங்கள் வருவதில்லையென்று சொல்லுகிறார்கள்.

நான் பெரியோர்களிடத்திலே போய், அவர்களோடே பேசுவேன்; அவர்கள் கர்த்தருடைய வழியையும், தங்கள் தேவனுடைய நியாயத்தையும் அறிவார்களென்றும் சொன்னேன்; அவர்களோ ஏகமாய் நுகத்தடியை முறித்து, கட்டுகளை அறுத்துப்போட்டார்கள்.

அப்பொழுது இயேசு தம்முடைய சீஷர்களை நோக்கி: ஐசுவரியவான் தேவனுடைய ராஜ்யத்தில் பிரவேசிப்பது அரிதென்று, மெய்யாகவே உங்களுக்குச் சொல்லுகிறேன்.

அப்பொழுது ராஜா மிகுந்த துக்கமடைந்தான், ஆகிலும், ஆணையினிமித்தமும், கூடப்பந்தியிருந்தவர்களினிமித்தமும், அவளுக்கு அதை மறுக்க மனதில்லாமல்;

அப்பொழுது இயேசு சுற்றிப்பார்த்து, தம்முடைய சீஷரை நோக்கி: ஐசுவரியமுள்ளவர்கள் தேவனுடைய ராஜ்யத்தில் பிரவேசிக்கிறது எவ்வளவு அரிதாயிருக்கிறது என்றார்.

எப்படியெனில், சகோதரரே, நீங்கள் அழைக்கப்பட்ட அழைப்பைப் பாருங்கள்; மாம்சத்தின்படி ஞானிகள் அநேகரில்லை, வல்லவர்கள் அநேகரில்லை, பிரபுக்கள் அநேகரில்லை.

இப்பொழுது சந்தோஷப்படுகிறேன்; நீங்கள் துக்கப்பட்டதற்காக அல்ல, மனந்திரும்புகிறதற்கேதுவாகத் துக்கப்பட்டதற்காகவே சந்தோஷப்படுகிறேன்; நீங்கள் ஒன்றிலும் எங்களால் நஷ்டப்படாதபடிக்கு, தேவனுக்கேற்ற துக்கம் அடைந்தீர்களே.

ஐசுவரியவான்களாக விரும்புகிறவர்கள் சோதனையிலும் கண்ணியிலும், மனுஷரைக் கேட்டிலும் அழிவிலும் அமிழ்த்துகிற மதிகேடும் சேதமுமான பலவித இச்சைகளிலும் விழுகிறார்கள்.

என் பிரியமான சகோதரரே, கேளுங்கள்; தேவன் இவ்வுலகத்தின் தரித்திரரை விசுவாசத்தில் ஐசுவரியவான்களாகவும், தம்மிடத்தில் அன்புகூருகிறவர்களுக்குத் தாம் வாக்குத்தத்தம்பண்ணின ராஜ்யத்தைச் சுதந்தரிக்கிறவர்களாகவும் தெரிந்துகொள்ளவில்லையா?
