இவ்வுலகத்தின் ஞானம் தேவனுக்கு முன்பாகப் பைத்தியமாயிருக்கிறது. அப்படியே, ஞானிகளை அவர்களுடைய தந்திரத்திலே பிடிக்கிறாரென்றும்,

அங்கே உங்கள் பிதாக்கள் என்னைச் சோதித்து, என்னைப் பரீட்சைபார்த்து என் கிரியையையும் கண்டார்கள்.

பரிசேயரும் சதுசேயரும் அவரைச் சோதிக்கும்படி அவரிடத்தில் வந்து: வானத்திலிருந்து ஓர் அடையாளத்தைத் தங்களுக்குக் காண்பிக்கவேண்டும் என்று கேட்டார்கள்.

இயேசு அவர்கள் துர்க்குணத்தை அறிந்து: மாயக்காரரே, நீங்கள் என்னை ஏன் சோதிக்கிறீர்கள்?

இயேசு அவர்கள் சிந்தனைகளை அறிந்து, அவர்களை நோக்கி: உங்கள் இருதயங்களில் நீங்கள் சிந்திக்கிறதென்ன?

அவர்களுடைய சிந்தனைகளை அவர் அறிந்து, சூம்பின கையையுடைய மனுஷனை நோக்கி: நீ எழுந்து, நடுவே நில் என்றார். அவன் எழுந்து நின்றான்.

வேறு சிலர் அவரைச் சோதிக்கும்படி வானத்திலிருந்து ஒரு அடையாளத்தைக் காட்டவேண்டுமென்று அவரிடத்தில் கேட்டார்கள்.

இவைகளை அவர்களுக்கு அவர் சொல்லுகையில், வேதபாரகரும் பரிசேயரும் அவர்மேல் குற்றஞ்சாட்டும்பொருட்டு, அவர் வாய்மொழியில் ஏதாகிலும் பிழை கண்டுபிடிக்கவேண்டும் என்று உபாயம்பண்ணி அவரை மிகவும் நெருக்கவும்,

அவர்கள் சமயம்பார்த்து, தேசாதிபதியின் ஆளுகைக்கும் அதிகாரத்துக்கும் அவரை ஒப்புக்கொடுக்கும்படி அவருடைய பேச்சிலே குற்றங்கண்டுபிடிக்கலாமென்று, தங்களை உண்மையுள்ளவர்களாய்க் காண்பிக்கிற வேவுகாரரை அவரிடத்தில் அனுப்பினார்கள்.

அப்படியிருந்தும், இயேசு எல்லாரையும் அறிந்திருந்தபடியால், அவர்களை நம்பி இணங்கவில்லை.

அவர்களில் சிலர் கிறிஸ்துவைப் பரீட்சைபார்த்து, பாம்புகளால் அழிக்கப்பட்டார்கள்; அதுபோல நாமும் கிறிஸ்துவைப் பரீட்சைபாராதிருப்போமாக.

அவருடைய பார்வைக்கு மறைவான சிருஷ்டி ஒன்றுமில்லை; சகலமும் அவருடைய கண்களுக்கு முன்பாக நிர்வாணமாயும் வெளியரங்கமாயுமிருக்கிறது, அவருக்கே நாம் கணக்கு ஒப்புவிக்கவேண்டும்.
