அவர்கள் அவரை ஜனங்களுக்கு முன்பாகப் பேச்சிலே குற்றம்பிடிக்கக்கூடாமல், அவர் சொன்ன உத்தரவைக்குறித்து ஆச்சரியப்பட்டு, மவுனமாயிருந்தார்கள்.

அவரது ஞானம்மிக்க பதிலைக் கேட்டு அம்மனிதர்கள் ஆச்சரியமுற்றனர். அவர்களால் ஒன்றும் சொல்ல முடியவில்லை. தம் தந்திரங்களில் அவர்கள் தோல்வியடைந்தார்கள். மக்களின் முன்பாக அவர்களால் இயேசுவை ஏமாற்ற முடியவில்லை. அவர்கள் இயேசுவுக்கு எதிராகப் பயன்படுத்தக்கூடிய எதையும் இயேசு சொல்லவில்லை.
