அவர்கள் இயேசுவைக் கொண்டுபோகிறபோது, நாட்டிலிருந்து வருகிற சிரேனே ஊரானாகிய சீமோன் என்கிற ஒருவனைப் பிடித்து, சிலுவையை அவர் பின்னே சுமந்துகொண்டுவரும்படி அதை அவன்மேல் வைத்தார்கள்.

இயேசுவைக் கொல்லும்பொருட்டு வீரர்கள் வெளியே அழைத்துச் சென்றனர். அப்போது வயல்களிலிருந்து நகருக்குள் ஒரு மனிதன் வந்துகொண்டிருந்தான். அவன் பெயர் சீமோன். அவன், சிரேனே நகரைச் சேர்ந்தவன். இயேசுவின் சிலுவையைச் சுமந்து அவரைத் தொடர்ந்து வருமாறு சீமோனை வீரர்கள் வற்புறுத்தினார்கள்.
